They were absolutely fantastic at the Corner and the Croxton sometime pre pandemic, the ideal size venues for bands like that. I haven't paid too much attention to them since their second record. Find them a bit annoying now, which is a shame because when they came out with Brutalism it all sounded so fresh to me at that time.
Yeah I feel the same. I think they did the Forum last time and that's a good size for them too. I was at VB the other week as well, was surprised how well they played the venue. Good night.

Viagra Boys the other week. Fantastic. Yard Act tonight.
I was spewing I missed Viagra Boys (had a holiday booked before their tour was announced). They're my number one act on my list of bands to see that I haven't seen before.

They're my favourite live band of the last 5 years. Seen them 4 times now. Incredible energy. The music just emanates sleaze and hip thrusting.

Not to turn this into a discourse on IDLES, who I like, but speaking of them and of VB, this quote from the VB singer about IDLES kind of sums up what's a bit off-putting about them

Bit lame, but Murphy did a bit of "STOP GENOCIDE!" at Forum the other day too.

Last saw them at the Australian Made concerts back in the 80s.

Anyone else go to those?
That was Chris Bailey’s band with none of the other original members.

This lineup is one Ed Kuepper put together with the surviving original members along with Mick Harvey (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds) on guitar and Mark Arm (Mudhoney) on vocals.

Very different beasts. I saw Bailey’s Saints in the 80s and saw the reformed original lineup at ATP Mt Buller and The Forum in 2009.

This lineup is playing material from the original lineup albums before the band split and Chris Bailey continued with The Saints name.

Was great last night - was positioned right in front of Ed.

Ed and band played with ferocity and touch, they were tight and loose when needed... truly played well.

Mark Arm did a fantastic job as vocals - great delivery and didn't try to be Chris Bailey.

Nights in Venice was the closer and it was sublime - everyone hit their straps and Ed's ferocious and relentless guitar attack was the stuff rock n roll is truly made of.

Got tickets for the Brisbane gig, can’t bloody wait. Saw him at Festival Hall in Melbourne just after Blunderbuss was released, was incredible.

(Jack White)

I saw him on that tour as well (2014?). As you say, incredible. I also saw him once with The Dead Weather and once with The Raconteurs, two of his other bands. Also great shows.

The good news for me is that he's putting on a second Sydney show, which I'm now going to.
