There are blokes that waltz into a club and the jumper thats thrown to them holds about as much significance as a fluro safety vest, and I refer to a blumfield type that thought the best way to impress his new teammates was to drink them under the table during pre season. Then there's a bloke like staff. From the minute he walked in the place he immersed himself in the history and tradition of the proud club that is RFC. He put it all on the line and he touched the fans.

On a bleak night in 2004 the crows inflicted a terrible defeat on a hapless tiger outfit with the off field antics of a rogue supporter, setting the RFC to be pilloried by the football communitybut there was a player that drew a line in the sand that night.......

3AW went to the losers rooms and the feeling down there could be felt through the airwaves...staff reached out to the fans imploring them to hang in there...."....we're going to climb out of this hole and we'll remember those that stuck out there hand to help us..."...huh who's laughing

Robert Walls...err, sorry Greg, someones throwing jellybeans at the box....a long pregnant pause.....

Staff..."Real Funny......"

with those two words Greg Stafford stood tall, took NO prisoners and told the footy world that we're not going to take sh$$ from NO cu#$

Earn't his stirpes that night and yesterday in response to a smart arse journo painting him as a "tough guy"...he pointed to Chaff and retorted Not as tough as this guy.

Classy stuff staff

Good Luck mate, Ive enjoyed watching ya:thumbsu:

Will be sorely missed staf, if one bloke stood up for the other 21 blokes on the team, it was him, thanks for the memories

Not ashamed to admitt that as soon as staff come to the club i had a new favorite son.

We have had our fair of **** teams of late and during the years staff has been at the club, he has been the only guy(bar tim fleming) to have the guts for our team and stick up for himself and our other players. We where a bunch of pushovers and staff was the only bloke willing to have a red hot dip and show some bloody agression.

Injury has dogged the man big time, but staff has brought me some great memorys throughout a very tough period for the club. From the accidentle elbows to the face, to the knees in the back, to the pack marks , the silky skills on both sides of the body, cmon guys remember the goal staff kicked against the hawks, when somone snapped the ball to the pocket and staff being held onto cleverly kicked the ball in mid air while wrestling his opponent and snapped it through the sticks.

This season showed glimpses against brisbane and carlton of what could have been for our team if injury didnt deplete the big man, You name just about any team and i bet they don't have a "backup" ruckman let alone the first choice ruckman, who can play half the game or the full game as a key forward and manage to bag 3-4 goals and staff did this fairly regulary considering playing alongside Richo and other talls like simmonds, holland, ottens down there.

Thanks for the time at the club staff and hope you have a sucessfull life after footy, and lets hope you stay involved with the club in some way and pump some badly needed aggression and pride to the new batch of tiger cubs

Yep super work Bojangles.....Staff was a great recruit and a wonderful leader at RFC....i will miss the big man and yelling out STAN when he takes those big grabs in the goal square! Loved his work yesterday when he said 'To be honest i like hurting people' hahahah and i enjoyed watching it Stan!! goodluck big man!!

"When you get in trouble with the tribunal they turn you out to be a tough guy but I'm just reckless and sloppy, I think, not tough," Stafford said.

"To be honest I like hurting people and that's the other thing that sort of got me there but I'm certainly not tough so don't worry about that."

We're gonna miss those knees and elbows big fella! :thumbsu:

That is magnificent.

Go out in style big fella. Wouldn't want to be the poor bastard that has to chair you off though.

Enjoyed his time at Richmond immensley too.

To me Staff always came across as very much his own person who didnt mind letting someone know what he thought, instead of going along with the usual cliched crap.

I loved in an article today or yesterday how he said he enjoys hurting people.. Cracked me up that and for some reason I thought of George the Animal, the old wrestler.

Great character Staff, and the game will be porrer without the lethal "Stafford's Elbow" flying around.

Hope he enjoys his last game and succeeds in all his future endevours:thumbsu:

Thanks Big Guy, and thanks for the Elbow :D

Yes i loved watching the Staff it will be sad to see him leave put on the positive side it will free up another spot in the starting 22 for a young gun.

I love it how staff stands up for his mates, loves to get in ther and ruff a few guys up and as someone said before tim flemming was another one who would do the same.

I watched flemming on the weekend playing for old xavs he got sent off in the 3rd quarter for fighting with some dude, even though he did nt have the greatest skills he was as tough as nails, but yer well done staff :thumbsu:

I converted a mate who was a rugby follower to Aussie Rules (and Richmond) because of Stafford.

Took my mate to a game and he wanted to see a guy who would throw his weight around, so I said 'I have just the guy for you'.

At the end of the game my mate said - 'That Stafford bloke - I like the cut of his jib!'

I added one bloke to the Tiger army - thanks Staff.

That is a ripping post Bo ... made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up

No point commenting any further , you`ve said it all .

All the best for the future Staff , you`ll always be fondly remembered around these parts

I'm sure the BIG FELLA enjoyed hurting the dopey sheila who ran onto the G that night in more ways than one, which leads me to this joke about Staff.
How does Greg Stafford make his "Big Fella" one foot long?

He folds it in half.

In a period in the history of the club when we were soft c@cks it was great to have a warrior like staff in our midst. YOU knew with staff around no-body was going to get too smart on the footy field

My favourte staff highlite was against the dawks a couple of years ago when he ironed out spider, broke his jaw in a beautiful move and then went on and dominated the ruck so we could get up from 41 points down. :thumbsu:

Absolute gun bloke who didnt mind getting down and dirty.;)

Ditto to all said here.

Thanks for standing up for some of our younger blokes when we needed someone to. It happened as recently as the brissy game when someone was giving strife to howat - the ball was down the other end but i saw what you did and it was great. That person did not go near him again all game.

LMAO. All the smart young blokes will rush over to chair Chaffey off. Richo, being a bit of a slower thinker than the rest, will be left to chair of Staff by himself.

Funny you mention that, he reminds of Drago out of Rocky IV when he picks his trainer up by the throat and throws him into the crowd.

Love him... still cant believe he got away with KOing Everitt... sucked in Spider! :D
