the younger bayliss boy has had a break out year and hopefully for his sake polls well. he beat that cagey veteran d.king in the club b and f counted last night. also a huge congratulations to young gary sheppard on pinching the league goal kicking award yesterday. not bad for a bloke standing about 5 foot 6.

If M Smith does not go close, well perhaps more than football ability considered.

Gary sheppard, a great finish to the year. 43 goals in last 6 weeks. Some good young talent coming through the league. Woori, olinda, Monbulk, and Upwey have shown that in recent years

LOL. We had the calculators out in the coach's box as soon as our game ended. We had about 6 people do the calculation over and over again just to make sure! Monbulk's last quarter come back turned what seemed to be a foregone conclusion at 3/4 time, into a very nervous time for about 15 minutes after the game ended.

...and from the obscure statistics department - no other team has ever lost at home to the eventual wooden spooner and then beaten the eventual minor premier away in consecutive weeks. The closest anyone had come to that previously was Millgrove in 1934 - won at eventual top of the ladder Yarra Junction in round 8, then lost at eventual wooden spooner Woori Yallock in round 9.

How Gembrook is a Grand Final venue is beyond me. Fantastic surface but holy shit, that wind is simply ridiculous. Too big of a factor for a Grand Final ground, I'd take Woori or Healesville any day.

Hey Derby

Riddle me this stats man. What would be the odds of the following?

Last week all 3 games Gembrook played in were decided by 1 point.
This week all 3 games were decided by 5 points.

We think around a mil to 1.

Yeah your right here. I went to 3 junior grand finals Sunday and there wasnt a breath of wind but the moment I drove into Gembrook it was a gale. (Thought i was in NY for a moment). I drove out the gate and it was gone again. I then went home and it was quiet as a mouse. Windows weren't shaking or anything.

Think we should start a petition...

Perfect conditions at Warburton yesterday not a breath of wind. Funny when the Powelltown seconds arrived after playing at Gembrook they all couldnt believe how windy it was over there.

Yeah, Warby surface looked fantastic as well Hump.

RHT, I hope you've gotten that out of your system and now you can listen and learn like a big boy that you're supposed to be.

The fact that there is wind is not the issue, the fact that the wind played such a big factor in the game is more definitely a problem. Obviously every ground has wind, but Gembrook seems to rival Pakenham's oval for how ridiculous the wind can carry the footy. I was seeing 80+ metre kick outs with the wind at a teams back which is too much of an advantage when it comes to finals. Grow up.

PS; was told that Warby was in very good condition, a little soft under foot but it held up so I think you'd be hard pressed to find a player that would be upset with that. And no 5 goal breeze either.. Just a 5 goal slope! Haha.

mmm talking bout slopes, @ Monbulk we had 13 goals to 4 kicked against the slope in the 2nd half!

now for the really obscure......8 clubs were at one time or another 2nd on the ladder in first divvy while 4 were on top with two missing finals. Surely a first

Be interested to hear from any unbias supporters about the conditions on Sunday. I was at Gembrook and its no stretch to say the wind ruined the standard of the games. A five goal wind blew basically the whole day at Gembrook and it really effected the skills. The poor netballers well lets just say they couldnt wait to get the hell out of there. What was the weather like else where was it windy at Warby?

as always, the sun was shineing and there was a gentle zepher to cool your face at woori, it was like the pure blonde ad, with waterfalls and white doves flew into the sky as the players entered the area, a white unicorn paraded around the oval selling raffle tickets with Gerry Donavan who was also carried on a silk blanket by 6 blondes. 2 unics Kev Sykes + Dale French threw rose petals on ground as Patty Sharp and Danny Ryan walked off the ground. Its always a nice day at Woori, OHH and i nearly forgot , after the game we brought wine and grapes into the away teams rooms as they bathed in milk baths, which is good for there skin as you all know we care for others at Woori

So what your saying is the once in a hundred years wind storm only hit Gembrook. :) How unlucky can they be its only still up there when theres no footy on.

Agree. First time Ive been up there in a while and made the massive clanger of not bringing a jumper. It affected the standard, plenty of points were kicked from relatively easy shots IMO. The surface was perfect and it wasn't a bad game, but would rather not have to go there again.

Credit to alex they took it to the blues. Seville struggled a bit early. If it hadn't been for standout games from Eckers and Jones Alex may have caused an upset.

Neutral supporter here as well, wind was awful! Definitely made an impact on the game, and the league should seriously consider moving the games. There wasn't any wind at Warburton, so that just proves to all you Gembrook lovers that it really is just Gembrook.
Alex looked ok on Sunday, but seville were better. I'm sure if it hadn't of been so windy, the score would have been a lot bigger on the Blues behalf.

Isn't Gembrook Rec Reserve known locally as "Windy Hill" ?? Serious comment here !
