Who ever wants him will have to pay up that's unless we get a top 5 compo pick

Top 10 picks? Merrett would be a free agent. Those guys weren't. They were contracted. You understand the difference, right?Dogs wanted 2 firsts for Dunkley,Shiel cost us 2 two firsts.

Do you understand the difference between a contracted player and an uncontracted free agent? We can force a trade
Jackson was playing WAFL last I heard but they’re originally from Cobden and seem like a close family (Zach frequently mentions his mother, who has MS, and tries to raise funds for related causes).Does his brother still live in WA?
Do you understand the difference between a contracted player and an uncontracted free agent?
Simple question.
Right, but do you understand the difference between a contracted player and an uncontracted free agent?Contracted or not Merret is a damm good player
So what?Cameron wasn't contracted and he went for 3 firsts

So what?
I think you'll struggle to extract two picks in the top 10, which is what you suggested.Aren't you saying Merret is not worth 2 firsts
Because he's not contracted?

So take the Band 1 compensation and trade it.I think Essendon will want a 2022 first.
So take the Band 1 compensation and trade it.
You're all over the shop.Don't see us trading it.
Essendon imo will want a 2022 first along side the top 10 pick we get for Merret and we cant get that unless we force a trade
You're all over the shop.
In English?I don't mean two firsts from next year one of those being 2022
Essentially the Dunkley trade
In English?
The only reason GWS could afford to match was they had already cut significant senior players from their salary books and knew Geelong had four first round picks to spend in a draft that wasn't going to give great value for those live selections.Contracted or not Merret is a damm good player
Cameron wasn't contracted and he went for 3 firsts GWS milked Geelong dry

They ended up being #15, #18 and #25.
Richmond might end up with #20 and #21 in the draft next season, both technically first round picks.
Point is that Geelong didn't pay a king's ransom for Cameron. They gave them what amounted to the last picks of the first round and a mid second, but called firsts.
A club like Richmond will be in a position to do the same this coming transfer period. If you'd rather picks #20 and #21 for Merrett over pick #8 then go right ahead.
But I bet you won't. It's happened once in very unique circumstances and GWS lost far more than it gained to facilitate that.
What if those aren't top 10?2021 first+2022 first
What if those aren't top 10?
The season will be over by then. Then we tank so we can get a top 5 pick haha
Only the Roos and Crows are shorter for the spoon than ess. You are right in the mix for bottom 4 especially after losing more than you gained. Apart from the two clubs above not sure you can make a case to be clearly ahead of any other teams. Which would then make it surprising to match. The top 5 look amazing. If it's a top 5 pick ok but I don't see us finishing bottom 4.
Compo pick will be in the 5-10 range and simply not worth it so we force a trade 2021+2022 first will do
2021 first+2022 first
