Port Adelaide has claimed their fifth win of the season in an uninspiring clash with Melbourne at Darwin.
The Demons were disgraceful in the final three quarters, as Port Adelaide adapted much better to the warmer climate.
Paul Stewart was the start for Port, kicking five majors while Travis Boak and Domenic Cassisi were also excellent for the victors.
Melbourne was first to get under way in a quarter marred by skill errors. Brad Green and Paul Stewart provided the first two goals for their respective clubs in what was an early arm wrestle.
A heavy clash between teammates Wingard and Pittard left young Pittard with suspected broken ribs, resulting in Port activating their substitute in Young.
Port squandered numerous chances while Melbourne were clinical when presented with an opportunity, kicking five straight to open up a 13 point quarter time margin.
It was a dominant quarter for Port Adelaide in the second, with the Port restricting the lamentable Dees to a solitary point, kicked by Brad Green after the half time siren.
Melbourne was abhorrent with their ball use and skill errors, allowing Port to escape from situations that an Auskick side would not allow.
Three goals to Port were all they could manage however, though it was enough to see Port head in to half time with a nine-point lead.
The third quarter begun much more positively for the Demons; kicking two of the first three to get right back in the hunt for their third win.
Paul Stewart was proving to be the difference though, kicking his third and fourth goal to give Port Adelaide some breathing space going in to the final quarter with an 11-point lead.
The final quarter, like the rest of the game, was deplorable from Melbourne. Port managed to kick four unanswered goals to begin the quarter to a 35-point lead.
It took until the 26th minute mark for Melbourne to kick a goal in the final quarter, with what turned out to be the final scoring shot of the match as Port Adelaide claimed its fifth win of the season by 28 points.
Melbourne now prepare to take on North Melbourne at Etihad while Port Adelaide will host Fremantle at AAMI Stadium.
