Casey Scorpions 5.8 (38) defeated by Williamstown 11.9 (75)
Semi Final 1
Casey Fields, 2PM Saturday 8th September
Casey put in another shocking performance at their home ground to get knocked out in straight sets. The Scorpions of course finished on top of the ladder, while Williamstown finished fifth. In windy conditions, the Seagulls got the perfect start, kicking three goals in the first term while Casey did not score. The Scorpions finally got on the board in the second, kicking one goal but they should’ve had more with inaacurate kicking letting them down. Williamstown went into the main break with a 20pt lead.
The Seagulls killed the game in the third quarter, kicking five goals and restricting Casey to only two goals to lead by 40pts at the final change. Williamstown finished off the match with two goals in the final term to win by 37pts. Pat Veszpremi and Matthew Panos both kicked three goals for the Seagulls while Ben Jolley had 31 disposals. James Wall amassed 31 hitouts for Williamstown while Luke Tynan had 24 disposals for Casey.

Geelong Cats 11.10 (76) defeated Box Hill Hawks 9.8 (62)
Semi Final 2

Geelong were expected to take out this match relatively easily. They got the win but it was much harder than first thought. It was a fairly even first quarter with the Cats only leading by five points at the siren, but the Cats had a goal on the board and the Hawks didn’t. The floodgates opened in the second quarter with Box Hill taking the ascendency after kicking six goals to Geelong’s two to lead by 19pts.
The Cats then started their comeback in the third term kicking three goals to the Hawks two to trail by 12pts. Matthew Knights gave his Geelong boys a rev up at the final break and it obviously worked. Geelong kicked five goals in the last quarter to run over the top of Box Hill by 14pts, who only kicked one goal in the final term. Shane Kersten helped the Cats by kicking five goals while Hill and Pratt kicked 2 each for the Hawks. Luke Andrews kicked a goal and had 27 disposals for Box Hill.

Round summary: So Geelong and Williamstown move onto the preliminary finals, and it’s set to be an exciting weekend.ort Melbourne will take on Williamstown in a Grand Final replay of last season at North Port Oval on Saturday while Geelong will take on Werribee also at North Port Oval on Sunday.
