As the title suggest the Oakland Raiders finally broke through for their maiden victory on the year. Yet that still wasn’t the most amazing thing to happen this week due thanks in part to an absolutely insane catch from Giants rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. The playoff picture is as clear as mud with all AFC North teams being 7-3 and the Bucs are one game out of the #1 pick but 2 games out of a playoff spot thanks to the NFC South being this year suckfest division.
Thursday night football saw the upset of the season as the Oakland Raiders notched their first win on the season over playoff hopefuls the Kansas City Chiefs. Alex Smith still hasn’t thrown a TD to a wide receiver and Charles Woodson also became the first player with 50 interceptions and 20 sacks. Hopefully this win isn’t the last for Raiders fans on the season. Also lol Chiefs. (20-24) Raiders
The Browns travelled to Atlanta with a sorely needed playmaker in wide receiver Josh Gordon returning to the team. Hoyer threw 3 picks including one that allowed a field goal to the Falcons with 44 seconds remaining. He then drove down to the 19 yard line and set up a game winning field goal from Cundiff after some terrible clock management from the Falcons and HC Smith. (26-24) Browns
A week after getting pummelled by the Packers the Eagles dished out some punishment of their own on a hapless Titans outfit that just struggles. The only positive for Titans fans is that Mettenberger is looking alright. The Eagles took care of business ahead of a crucial match-up with Dallas on Thanksgiving day. (24-43) Eagles
For the second straight game the Lions failed to score a TD on offence as it’s come to an unfamiliar stop from recent years. The Patriots had no such drama with Brady seemingly throwing at will against a weak secondary as the front 7 wasn’t able to disrupt him. It was a game the Lions could ill-afford to drop in their charge for the NFC North Title. (9-34) Patriots
After watching the Packers put up back to back 50 point games many were expecting the same against a Vikings outfit that hasn’t performed well at all this season. That didn’t happen as the Packers had to contend with a sloppy performance to eek out a win against their divisional opponent. Bridgewater shows promise and with HC Zimmer in charge the Vikes should see rapid improvement soon. (24-21) Packers
If not for an incompetent Jaguars offence this game against the Colts could’ve produced the 2nd biggest upset of the year in the same round. Sadly they are incompetent and the well held Colts offence came out in the second half and didn’t let the Jags back in. T.Y. Hilton welcomed in a baby daughter the night before and capped it off with a 73yard TD reception dedicated to her. (3-23) Colts
It wasn’t an offensive game at all at Houston as the Bengals and Texans offences struggled all day. In the end it was the Bengals who sucked less and scrapped out a win to stay in touch with the rest of the ultra-competitive AFC North. The Texans really need to find some offensive firepower if they want to challenge the Colts in the coming years. (22-13) Bengals
The Bears still suck, thankfully for them Tampa Bay sucks a hell of a lot more. The Bears put up 21 points in the 3rd to overcome a 10-0 halftime deficit. This was a game worth forgetting for both teams. (13-21) Bears
If only Drew Stanton wasn’t the QB for the Cardinals they might have stood a good chance at winning this won. Unfortunately he was and the offence wasn’t able to capitalize on the dominance of the defence as when the game was on the line the Seahawks led by Russel Wilson produced the goods to narrow the Cards lead in the NFC West. (3-19) Seahawks
As weird as it sounds if the Rams played good teams every week they might actually be a good side as they always seem to rise to the occasion. This week they fell short as Shaun Hill threw a ridiculous interception with 56 seconds left to go costing his team their 5th win on the season and a long shot at a play-off spot. The Chargers are hanging in there just and really need to find their mojo. (24-27) Chargers
The 49ers aren’t the side they used to be. They managed to squeak by a Redskins side that has been going backwards all season. In a game that could be RGIII’s last as a Redskin he was incredibly lacklustre and was outshone by other one season wonder QB Colin Kaepernick. (13-17) 49ers
It’s slowly coming together in Miami but they ran into a Broncos and Peyton Manning. All was going well for the Fins until the last quarter where they allowed 22 points and surrendered the lead. Against the good teams you can’t afford to let that happen and for this promising and revitalized Miami outfit they just didn’t cut it this week. (36-39) Broncos
The first half was so promising for the Giants leading 21-10 over the Dallas Cowboys and with Odell Beckham Jr making one of the most insane catches it looked like nothing could go wrong. The 2nd half started and Eli went full Eli on everyone as the Cowboys came out and took care of business and most likely saw Eli and Coughlin have their papers signed. (31-28) Cowboys
Jets fans are wishing that the rescheduled match with the Bills would have been cancelled instead as their side was absolutely embarrassed by their AFC East rivals. The Bills kept their struggling play-off hopes alive while the Jets just rolled over and it’s lucky they aren’t a dog otherwise Mike Vick might’ve done something about it. (3-38) Bills
The Saints had a wonderful opportunity to take the lead from the Falcons in the NFC South instead they squandered big time. This is a Saints side that usually performs in night time matches in primetime and for once they failed against the Ravens who are going about business unnoticed it would seem compared to their more fancied AFC rivals. (34-27) Ravens
Things to look forward to in Week 13:
- Philadelphia @ Dalls
- Seattle @ San Francisco
- New England @ Green Bay
- Colt McCoy starting in favour of RGIII
