Geelong have provided the backbone of many a Fantasy team over the years. Stevie J, Joel Selwood, Bimmy Jartel, various Coreys, all have been regular and sustained performers.

But can the old stagers keep performing? And is the young talent coming through? Will Geelong suffer the much predicted onfield slump or will they make the top four again?

GET THEM IN

Mitch Clark (FWD $156,000

If Clark’s foot is right, and the indications are that it is, then he has to come in at this price, even on the bench, especially given he should get some time in the ruck.

Josh Caddy (MID $392,000)

There’s no doubting Caddy’s talent and he’s primed to step into a full time midfield role as the likes of Bartel and Johnson spend more time elsewhere. Christensen’s departure helps too. This is a really nice price and some money could be made.

NOT WITH A BARGEPOLE

Hamish McIntosh (RUCK $451,000)

Big Hamish hasn’t been a resounding success at the Cats and with their range of other ruck options, and his ongoing injury history, he’s not worth picking at this price.

Tom Hawkins (FWD $436,000)

The Tomahawk is a gun and more than capable of winning games off his own boot, as the last quarter of the semi final against North showed. But with other options being brought in to take the load off him, again, he’s too pricey.

WORTH A PUNT

Jarrad Jansen (MID $123,000)

Racks up a ton of posessions in the twos and Geelong will be blooding more youngsters. Monitor over the pre season and if named for Rd1, worth a shot.

Steve Johnson (MID $613,000)

Odd to have Stevie J as worth a punt. More accurately, its worth monitoring how Johnson goes. If he drops price early, and $613,000 is a lot of cash, get him in. Geelong have shown they will rest Johnson, but that tends to happen later in the year. Timed right, Johnson could be a great “buy low and sell high” player for six or seven rounds.
