The Tigers eh? You could, if you wanted, have innumerable Tigers in your team and it would, on paper, seem a wise decision: Martin, Cotchin, Deledio, Ellis, Rance etc etc.

None of the key Tigers are ridiculously overpriced (except Ellis – see below) and they boast a bewildering array of dual positions.

The problem is of course that the Tigers onfield are a very different proposition from the Fantasy version. While Dusty Martin showed in the first half of last season that he can still score well even when the team is losing, Cotchin remains vulnerable to a hard tag and Deledio simply goes missing. Tempting as it is, don’t put all your eggs in the Richmond basket. You really don’t need me to explain why.

GET THEM IN

Dustin Martin (FWD/MID $453,000)

I’m an unabashed Dusty fan. I’d go so far as to say that he was my first picked last year and will be again this year. Dusty averages well, seems to pull a high score when you need it, plonks in the FWD line, scores even when the side are down and incredibly, not everyone has him as a matter of course.

Trent Cotchin (MID $571,000)

Despite not being a Richmond supporter, I also believe they’ll finally come good this year and if they do, Cotchin will be front and square at it, racking up the points.

NOT WITH A BARGEPOLE

Brett Deledio (FWD/MID $548,000)

One that will probably come back to bite me but I’m not sold on Lids this year, even if the FWD designation is tempting. Of the Big Tiger Three, Deledio sits well behind Dusty and Cotchin for me. You can’t, or shouldn’t, have them all.

Brandon Ellis (MID $544,000)

While he was certainly a great pick up last year, Ellis comes with too high a price tag for me in 2015. He’ll need to be producing his best from the get go just to maintain value. Too risky.

WORTH A SHOT

Nick Vlastuin (DEF/MID $370,000)

Very much a keep an eye on player but I have an odd feeling he might be about to have a “breakout year” a la Brandon Ellis. He’s the right price if he’s showing early form.

Ben Lennon (FWD $189,000)

Monitor his progress in Ye Olde NAB Thinge but the price is good and if he changes through midfield, looks a good bench bet.
