Social media and the BigFooty Forums went into meltdown last night following two high contact free kicks for North Melbourne’s Lindsay Thomas where the forward lowered his knees to draw the contact.
Sydney’s George Hewitt also drew a contentious free during the match which resulted in a goal.
Lindsay Thomas might be a great fella but I hate the way he goes about his footy

Joel Selwood set the precedent for years and umpires rewarded him. Now Lindsay Thomas is cashing in. #AFLSwansNorth

Others were quick to jump to Thomas’ defence.
The tackles on Lindsay Thomas were clumsy, inept & too high. Thomas has staged & ducked before but these were blatant frees #stopwhingeing — Jake Niall (@JakeNiallFOX) May 28, 2016
Wayne Carey was defiant on the Lindsay Thomas decisions last night https://t.co/5bubMeXtrH

Seriously? Lindsay Thomas was decapitated twice. Poor tackles. Total over reaction.#AFLSwansNorth — Richard Hinds (@rdhinds) May 27, 2016
Lindsay Thomas’ current rank for free kicks via high tackle in 2016: #41.
2015 rank: #14
2014 rank: #26
Yet he’s the one singled out. #NMFC— Ricky Mangidis (@rickm18) May 28, 2016
So when is Lindsay Thomas going to be nailed to a cross? Dying for all the ducking sins of the AFL. — Ayden Cutajar (@AydenCutajar) May 28, 2016
