We first introduced you to Draftstars last week, with our piece on how the daily fantasy platform works. Click here to have a look.
Now, Draftstars is hosting The Draftstars Classic, a four week daily fantasy competition with grand final prize pool of $50,000.
The format has long been an enormous success in the US, and now Australia gets its first taste with the first big elimination daily fantasy competition.
The competition has three lead up rounds, before the grand final, but feel free to enter at any stage of the tournament.
Depending on what stage of the tournament you enter, entry buy-ins range from nothing at all to $200.00.
Week one is either free to enter, or $10.
The AFL Classic qualifying is free, but if you want to bypass the qualifying rounds and go straight into Round1, entry is $10. There are 1,000 entries available in qualifying and 2,000 spots available in Round 1.
The top 20 contestants from the qualifying rounds will gain entry to Round 1 and the top 500 players who bought into Round 1 will qualify for Round 2.
Week two buy-in is $10, or free if you advance from week one’s contest. There are 2,000 spots available for the two days of matches across the weekend for week two and contestants can place five entries.
Then, 325 contestants from week two advance to the preliminary finals in week three.
Week three (preliminary finals) is a $50 buy-in, with players permitted to enter twice, with 1,200 places available. Entry to week three is free is you have advanced via week two.
Week four is the grand final, with buy-in costing $200 for players who did not qualify from the previous round.
There are only 325 spots available for the grand final and if you’re good enough, you can pay absolutely nothing at all for the entire competition from qualifying to the grand final and win your way through to the big dance, where just 325 players compete for a prize pool of $50k.
The competition winner stands to win a minimum prize of $10,000, second place a minimum of $6,000 and third place at least $3,500.
The Draftstars Classic will start on June 11, so get in quick to set up your team!
