How much does the squiggle love the Giants holding Richmond to their lowest score for 65 years? Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much.
A great week for Sydney, too, who annihilated Fremantle in Perth.
But Adelaide’s obliteration of Essendon was expected, so no squiggling for them.
The Eagles drifted to their lowest point of the year after losing to the Pies in Melbourne.
Richmond, who haven’t been an attacking team for a few years, hit their lowest Attack rating since 2010, which was Hardwick’s first in charge.
And Brisbane exited stage left again. The Lions are a bit curious because their attack is on par with teams like Melbourne and St Kilda. But their defence is abysmal.
Ladder Predictor!
It’s a fairly enormous gap between 8th and 9th again… not impossible for Port, but their chances of making finals are very low, around 5%. That is, if you ran this season from this point for the next 20 years, Port would make it once.
Let’s check the Tower of Power! Not yet stolen by Fox Footy. This one shows the likelihood of teams finishing in each ladder position.
There’s a been a bit more flattening out, and it’s possible to see two bands of teams in the top 8: Those teams fighting for 1st-5th and those fighting for 6th-8th. Although Hawthorn really have that top spot there for the taking. But it looks fairly unlikely that any of the current top 5 will drop out, and West Coast, the Bulldogs, or the Roos break in.
So a good team will finish 5th.
Flagpole! Adelaide remain on top, because Flagpole gets more excited by teams kicking big scores than the regular squiggle does. But there’s a lot of movement, with Geelong, GWS, and Sydney rising strongly while the Eagles slip.
