To be fair to the bloke, nobody accidently wins a Brownlow Medal. And winning one in a year when your team also makes the Grand Final is a pretty incredible achievement too.
Nevertheless, the rest of Woewodin’s career was certainly a mixed bag, to the extent that Melbourne, after signing the midfielder to a hugely lucrative contract after his Brownlow win, decided they needed to get him off their books after the 2002 season.
What followed was one of the most bitter trades in AFL history.
