Scott Pendlebury and Joel Selwood have been the talk of the footy world this week following some shirtiness during Collingwood’s big win over Geelong.

The two are without question future AFL Hall of Famers and perhaps the most consistently outstanding players of the last decade.

But, if you could go back over a decade and only draft one of them to your AFL club, who would you take?

Born just five months apart, the two have remarkably similar statistical records (aside from *ahem* free kicks):

On individual accomplishments, Pendlebury probably has his nose in front of the Geelong skipper:

Pendlebury Selwoood
5 Best and Fairests 3
5 All-Australian 5
0 All-Australian Captain 3
1 Norm Smith Medal 0
1 AFLCA Champion Player 0
0 AFL Rising Star 1

Then there’s the intangibles. Selwood has been voted the most courageous player in the game four times by his peers and with three All-Australian captain nods is unquestionably the better leader.

And of course, Selwood is way in front of the most important category: Premierships. As a member of one of the greatest AFL sides of all time, Selwood has won three flags while the Collingwood skipper just has one.
