Tomorrow night GWS star Jeremy Cameron will face the tribunal for his hit on Brisbane defender Harris Andrews in the Saturday clash at the Gabba that left Harris needing to be hospitalised where he would be diagnosed for a bleed on the brain.
The severity and lateness of the hit was already likely going to earn Cameron a lengthy holiday as footage showed that Andrews was out cold before he hit the ground. Now that Andrews’s stay in hospital has revealed the full extent of the injury caused by Cameron, bleeding on the brain, the star forward could be looking at a six match plus suspension.
This incident couldn’t come at a much worse time for either of the clubs or players involved. Harris Andrews was on track for possible All Australian selection, he is second in the competition for one percenters and eleventh for total intercepts. He will now likely multiple games of football. The Lions want to finish the season strongly and show that they can be an attractive on-field option for October trade period and it will be that much harder without Andrews who does close to the work of two men.
Cameron himself would have been a showing for his first Coleman Medal as he currently sits in second place to Ben Brown with 35 goals, the chances of this happening are now probably lost. His Giants are pushing hard for finals after a disappointing first half of the year. The loss of their spearhead could derail that totally.
The tribunal will sit tomorrow night and decide Cameron’s fate. What would you give Jeremy Cameron?
