AFL Round 16 Preview: Three Points
Richmond v Adelaide
MCG , 7:50pm AEST Friday, July 6, 2018
- Desperate times call for desperate measures. The Crows will have to throw everything they’ve got at the Tigers tonight if they’re any chance for finals. The Tigers will likely be their usual methodical selves at the MCG and very hard to beat.
- Riewoldt v Walker. Both spearheads changed the games they were in last week. Should be a great display from the talls at either end.
- Richmond will be without role-players Nick Vlastuin and Reece Conca due to suspension and injury respectively. Will youngsters Corey Ellis and Callum Moore be able to slot in successfully to Dimma’s well oiled machine?
Brisbane Lions v Carlton
G , 1:45pm AEST Saturday, July 7, 2018
Rankine Lukosius Walsh Cup? Hard to tell who the best 17 year old in the land is and both of these sides are playing for pride at the moment so you won’t hear it from them but the loser is likely to be gaining a star at the end of the year.
- Lion’s den. Brisbane have served up some excellent football at the Gabba this year and will be feeling confident after a great win on the road against Freo.
- Charlie Curnow. Will be worth the price of admission alone. Amazing in the air for a 21 year old.
Port Adelaide v St Kilda
AO , 4:05pm ACST Saturday, July 7, 2018
- Power midfield. Port Adelaide’s powerful bodies around the ball should be too much for the Saints. Bash brothers Ollie Wines and Sam Pepper-Powell are part of the most productive clearance unit in the AFL while St Kilda are ranked last in the stat.
- Gray and Gresham. Robbie Gray performing wizardry up one end and Jade Gresham bursting through packs towards goal at the other. Two small forwards playing some of the most electric football you can imagine.
- Depleted Saints. St Kilda’s key position stocks were devastated in just one training session this week when Jake Carlisle punctured a lung and Josh Bruce broke his fibula.
Melbourne v Fremantle
TIO , 7:10pm ACST Saturday, July 7, 2018
- They just can’t do it again. Melbourne think of your fans. They’ve been through so much. Three losses in a row but that’s behind you. Get it together and make the bloody 8!
- They just can’t do it again. The Dockers were disgraceful against the Lions last week. It’s going to be even harder now without Fyfe but maybe that will get a couple of the younger players to step up. Get it together, Ross, and beat these Dees.
- Big Boy v Big Man. Sean Darcy is a lump of a lad but Max Gawn is a beast of a player. 209cm probably doesn’t seem that big when you train against Sandilands though.
