SYDNEY SWANS v COLLINGWOOD
SCG , 7:25pm AEST Saturday, August 4, 2018
- It really cannot be understated how many mouth-watering games there are this weekend. This is another of many that will define the finals.
- Bigger than Smith, bigger than Freeman, it’s the Alex Johnson return game. The Swan will play his first game at AFL level since 2012. 2012!
- Learn something everyday. There’s a person called Jack Magden in the AFL. Good luck to the former college basketballer in his debut for Collingwood.
CARLTON v GWS GIANTS
ES , 1:10pm AEST Sunday, August 5, 2018
- When you see out Sheil and out Taranto you think this might be a danger game for GWS but then you remember it’s against Carlton. Would be a bigger upset than Gold Coast v Sydney but anything is possible.
- Jeremy Cameron returns. Elbows in this time, champ.
- Aiden Bonar is a debut many will look at closely. He turned heads last year in the TAC Cup with his explosive power and speed. The mid forward did two ACLs in the juniors but the Giants rolled the dice on him as only have the luxury to do with pick 11.
WEST COAST EAGLES v FREMANTLE
OS , 2:40pm AWST Sunday, August 5, 2018
- Eagles just need to get this one done to lock in that all important top two spot and home finals.
- But like the Showdown anything can happen in a Derby. Freo will play this one for pride. And there’s still no JJK.
- Dom Sheed dropped again. The young mid is really struggling with his consistency.
MELBOURNE v GOLD COAST SUNS
MCG , 3:20pm AEST Sunday, August 5, 2018
- A normal AFL fan calls this a certain Dees win. A Dees fan with their years of mental scarring will still walk into the MCG nervous.
- What’s Dew see that we don’t? Jarryd Lyons looks like one of the best clearance mids in the competition and the Suns aren’t exactly bursting at the seams with quality. Dropped again after a 29 touch 11 clearance game. Something fishy there.
- Gold Coast in crisis. The team needs to show something on-field because off-field it’s a nightmare.
