Summary: It could have been worse. Port might have lost two of their best and traded depth away for nothing but Lycett was a good free agent get and they had the luck of dealing with a hyper-aggressive Hawthorn. Another club wouldn’t have offered up a talented player with three years development like Ryan Burton.

Summary: The Tigers got the biggest free agent in the pond. Transitioning Riewoldt into Lynch is a dream come true for a football department. A huge amount of depth out but that’s what happens when you have as many stars as the Tigers do.

Summary: When you finish 16th and your “big fish” are a broken down Hannebery and Kent you haven’t had a brilliant trade season. The rumoured exodus didn’t occur though with good players like Steven, Billings and Gresham still a part of St Kilda’s future.

Summary: Swans already looked like they were on the wane and then this trade season was a massive flop. Hannebery and Rohan both gone before they could turn it around and only fringe players like Thurlow and Clarke in.

Summary: Adams and Roughead out is a blow to the tall stocks of the Dogs. Lloyd and Duryea are solid citizens but hardly much to get excited about. Lucky there is a lot of organic growth left in the squad.
