Nick Blakey – Sydney Swans Academy, 195cm, 80kg, tall forward

Nick Blakey is one of the highest rated draft prospects this year. Blakey had the choice to choose any of the Brisbane Lions, North Melbourne or Sydney Swans to play his footy next year and went with the Swans. Great news for Sydney as Blakey is the perfect option to take over from Buddy.

Isaac Quaynor – Collingwood NGA (Next Generation Academy), 179cm, 82kg, general defender

Quaynor is a wonderfully versatile defender with the strength and leap to go with the talls and speed to go with the smalls. Because of his athleticism he has a high ceiling to potentially play up the field, but at worse will be a smart and reliable defender.

Tarryn Thomas – North Melbourne NGA, 189cm, 73kg, midfielder

Thomas is a hard as nails midfielder with real x-factor. Draft watchers suggest that Thomas could go in the top ten if he was open to the rest of the draft and it’s easy to see why. Few midfielders have his size, touch at ground level and can take a screamer in the forwardline.

Rhylee West – Western Bulldogs father–son, 180cm, 81kg, midfielder

Rhylee West is the son of seven-times Bulldogs B&F winner Scott. Not easy shoes to fill, but Rhylee has the tools to make it at the top level. Blessed with great agility West works his way through traffic with ease. He’s a prolific tackler, wins his own ball and is also very capable up forward.

Will Kelly – Collingwood father–son, 193cm, 83kg, tall defender

Son of Collingwood premiership player Craig and brother of Adelaide defender Jake, Will Kelly is a tall defender with great foot skills and versatility. Kelly isn’t overly fast or agile, but makes up for it with great positioning and intercept marking.

Toby Bedford – Melbourne NGA, 176cm, 65kg, small forward

Bedford is a pressure specialist suited to the modern game. Didn’t post big disposal or goal numbers in the TAC Cup or the Champs, but averaged over 5 tackles a game in both. Bedford has a great leap, speed, evasiveness and can play through the midfield.

Bailey Scott – North Melbourne father–son, 186cm, 76kg, midfielder

Bailey Scott, the son of 1996 North Melbourne premiership player Robert Scott, is a well-rounded midfielder who can go forward and kick goals. It might be a few years until Scott has the size to compete on the inside with the best of the AFL, but his hard-running and good decision making should see him able to start his career as an outside midfielder or forward.

Oscar Brownless – Geelong father–son, 186cm, 75kg, midfielder

Unlike dad Billy, Oscar is likely going to be playing a lot more midfield than forward. There he can make better use of his toughness and elite endurance. Oscar Brownless is likely to go in the back half of the draft because of his lack of speed and inconsistent kicking, but he’s a natural footballer who will give the Cats plenty to work with.

Connor McFadyen – Brisbane Lions Academy, 190cm, 88kg, midfielder/forward

McFadyen is a tall inside midfielder with many strong attributes. He’s a great overhead mark, has good agility and is clean with the ball at ground level. He’ll need to improve his consistency and composure, but he has the tools to be a special player.

Buku Khamis – Western Bulldogs NGA, 189cm, 81kg, defender

Buku Khamis is an intriguing draft proposition as a defender with great raw athletic ability and endurance. His development as a player has grown exponentially over the last couple of years and could turn into a great intercepting defender for the Bulldogs.
