Hawthorn
Written off again. Seem to do their best work when they’re expected to fail.
Melbourne
With eyes in the back of their head. After last season the Dees won’t be the hunters anymore.
North Melbourne
All together as a team. North can learn from Port Adelaide and Essendon that adding a bevy of mature players can mean a step backwards. Finding balance in a very even squad will be key for the Kangas.
Port Adelaide
Recomposed. 2018 was a disaster for Port, but there’s no reason that next year has to go to the same way.
St Kilda
With a harder edge. St Kilda were pushed aside by many teams last year in a race up the ladder. Time for the Saints to stand up in 2019.
Sydney
With faith in the future. Nick Blakey was a steal at 10 for the Swans, him plus Mills, Heeney, Florent and Hayward are shining lights for the club.
West Coast
Refreshed but focused. Going back to back is one of the hardest things for a club to achieve in footy, but under Adam Simpson’s guidance the Eagles could do it as long as they haven’t indulged too much since September.
Western Bulldogs
With the spirit of 2016. Lots of talent young and prime at the Dogs. Could be a danger side in 2019.
