Rising Star nom, Round 15

Port Adelaide’s Lachlan Jones has been named the Round 15 NAB Rising Star nominee.

The proud Yanyuwa man had 16 disposals, eight score involvements and a goal in Port Adelaide’s two-point win against the Gold Coast SUNS.

In a finals-like game, Jones’ pressure and presence in the forward line were critical to keeping Port Adelaide’s top eight chances alive.

Senior coach Ken Hinkley praised Jones’ recent move from defence to the Power’s half-forward line.

“(Jones) plays footy the right way. He’s tough and hard and has real pressure and real run,” Hinkley said.

“We’re not sure exactly where Lachie plays his football in his career, but all we know right now is he’s bringing some really important stuff to our front half.”
