The excitement is building for the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, and the AFL has some exciting news to share! The Gather Round Double-Header, featuring Essendon vs Melbourne and Port Adelaide vs Western Bulldogs, is set to take place on Saturday, April 15 2023 at Adelaide Oval.
Unfortunately, tickets for this much-anticipated event are now sold out, following the sell-out of the Brisbane Lions vs North Melbourne match at Adelaide Hills (Summit Sports and Recreation Park, Mount Barker). This means that three out of the nine matches in the Gather Round series have already sold out, with over 129,000 tickets sold so far.
Of those tickets sold, a staggering 35% have come from outside of South Australia, totalling 45,000 tickets. This just goes to show how popular the AFL is, not just in South Australia but across the country.
While tickets for the Gather Round Double-Header are no longer available, there is still a chance to get tickets for the Thursday night, Friday night, and Sunday double header matches at Adelaide Oval and Norwood Oval. These tickets are available for Club & AFL Members and the general public via Ticketek.
Corporate Hospitality packages are also still available through the AFL Event Office at afl.com.au/eventoffice. This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses and corporations to get involved in the AFL and treat their clients and employees to a unique and exciting experience.
Members of competing clubs will get free entry to their club’s match. For everyone else, tickets are capped at a single price of $30 for adults, $20 for concession (15-18 years old), and kids (under 15) are free at all matches. This means that everyone has the chance to attend an AFL match, regardless of budget.
It’s worth noting that tickets are not tiered or classified, so prices are capped for all matches in any seat in the venue. And for those who want to attend multiple matches, multi-day discounted passes will be available at Adelaide Oval.
Adelaide Oval will host six matches, including the Thursday night, Friday night, and Saturday and Sunday double headers. Norwood Oval, home of the reigning SANFL premiers the ‘Redlegs’, will host two matches – Friday twilight and Sunday afternoon. Finally, Adelaide Hills (Summit Sports and Recreation Park, Mount Barker), home of ‘Hills footy’, will host a Saturday afternoon match.
