The Geelong Cats are heading to regional Victoria next week for their 2023 AFL Community Camp, in partnership with AFL Victoria. The club will be visiting Warrnambool for the occasion, where they’ll be interacting with the local community, visiting schools, and taking part in various activities.
The Cats will arrive in Warrnambool on Monday, February 6th, starting off with a number of school visits. In the afternoon, an open training session will be held at Reid Oval, where the fans can watch their favourite players in action.
On Tuesday afternoon, a group of players from both the AFL and AFLW programs will take part in a Djilang Program, which is a cultural connection program run by the Geelong Cats in collaboration with the local First Nations community. 2023 First Nations guernsey artist Michelle Searle will also be present at the event.
The Djilang Program is a way for the Geelong Cats to connect with the First Nations community and learn about their cultural heritage. The Wadawurrung name for Geelong is Djilang, and the program aims to foster a strong relationship between the club and the local Indigenous community.
To wrap up their visit, the Cats will host a ‘Footy 4 Fun‘ clinic at Reid Oval on Tuesday evening. This event will provide a fun-filled and engaging experience for the kids, where they can learn and play the game of AFL.
