St Kilda fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the club announced the re-signing of young gun Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera. The 20-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension, which will see him donning the red, white and black until the end of the 2025 season.
Wanganeen-Milera, who was drafted with pick No. 11 in the 2021 National Draft, has already played 20 games for the Saints. He recently played a pivotal role in the club’s historic 150th Anniversary Game at the MCG, which resulted in a win.
The young defender is in good company as he joins fellow draftees Marcus Windhager and Mitch Owens in recommitting to the club. The latter pair have also signed on until the end of the 2025 season.
Acting General Manager of Football David Misson expressed his delight over Wanganeen-Milera’s decision to stay, citing his work ethic and talent as reasons for the club’s confidence in him. Misson also praised the young player’s recent move to half-back, under the tutelage of Corey Enright.
Wanganeen-Milera, for his part, expressed pride in staying with the Saints, even in the face of the lure to return home. The young gun expressed his confidence in the direction of the club and his eagerness to work with the likes of Bradley Hill and Mason Wood, who have been mentors to him.
The club has hailed the extension as great news for St Kilda fans, who have watched Wanganeen-Milera grow in the past year. St Kilda claim his impressive talent and work ethic, combined with his young age, make him a valuable addition to the Saints’ roster. With the club eyeing off a fourth consecutive win, the young defender will undoubtedly have contribute in the seasons ahead.
