Exciting forward turned midfielder Izak Rankine has finalized a two-year contract extension that ties him to the Adelaide Crows until at least the end of 2027.
Rankine, 24, has been one of the Club’s standout performers this season, averaging 19 disposals and two goals per game. His speed, elite ball use, and game sense have been pivotal, allowing him to transition effectively into a midfield role. Since moving to Adelaide, Rankine has consistently delivered match-winning performances, including a 24-disposal, three-goal effort in a draw against Brisbane, and a 30-disposal game against Collingwood.
Now in his second season with the Crows, Rankine joined the Club via a trade with Gold Coast, where he played 48 games after being selected with Pick three in the 2018 National Draft. His return to South Australia has seen him flourish, quickly becoming one of the team’s most influential players.
“Since moving back home to Adelaide and playing for the Crows, I couldn’t be happier,” Rankine said. “Everyone has really embraced me, and we’ve got such a good bunch of people – the players, coaches, and staff. This season has definitely had its challenges, but I know good things are ahead for us.”
Crows General Manager of List Management and Strategy, Justin Reid, praised Rankine for his on-field impact and leadership. “Izak is an elite talent, and he has taken his game to another level this season,” Reid said. “In particular, his ability to play up the ground and add another dimension to our midfield has been invaluable. He is obviously an integral part of our team and future.”
Despite an injury and a suspension this season, Rankine’s contributions have been vital for Adelaide, making his contract extension a significant win for the club as they continue to build for the future.
