Aaron Shattock, a 2002 premiership winner with the Brisbane Lions, is in critical condition following a serious accident at his Gold Coast property. The 44-year-old was operating an excavator when it overturned, trapping him underneath.

Emergency crews responded to the incident at Shattock’s home off Worongary Road around 12:50 pm on Sunday. Using hydraulic rescue tools, they freed the former AFL star before he was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital with life-threatening chest injuries.

Shattock’s AFL career began in 2000 with the Brisbane Lions, where he played 57 games, including a crucial role in their 2002 Premiership victory. He later moved to Port Adelaide, playing an additional 11 games before retiring in 2006 with a total of 68 AFL appearances.

The accident has shocked the football community, with fans and former teammates expressing their concern and sending messages of support for his recovery.

Shattock remains in critical condition, and the situation is being closely monitored. The AFL community continues to rally behind him, hoping for a positive outcome for the former midfielder who made a significant impact during his playing years.
