Ben Jepson’s AFL dream has become a reality as he officially joins the Gold Coast SUNS for the 2025 season.

The 24-year-old midfielder impressed during pre-season training and secured a spot as a pre-season supplementary selection. His signing was announced in a memorable moment by his close friend and new teammate, Noah Anderson, during the team’s training camp in Byron Bay.

Jepson’s journey to the AFL has been anything but conventional. He honed his craft in the VFL, playing for both Coburg and Southport. His 2023 season at Coburg saw him claim the club’s best and fairest award, and his consistent performance in 2024 earned him a spot in the VFL Team of the Year. At Southport, he averaged 24.7 disposals at an impressive 82.9% efficiency, finishing as the club’s best and fairest runner-up.

After relocating to the Gold Coast last year for a lifestyle change, Jepson embraced the opportunity to train with the SUNS, showcasing his dedication and skill. Now wearing the #44 guernsey, he is ready to make his mark in the AFL.

Speaking about his signing, Jepson described it as a lifelong dream come true, stating, “I’m on an AFL list, but being an AFL player sounds even better. My goal is now to make my debut.”

Gold Coast SUNS’ General Manager Craig Cameron praised Jepson’s drive and determination, emphasizing that his work ethic and on-field performance made him a standout selection.

With a remarkable VFL career behind him, all eyes are now on Jepson as he prepares to take his game to the next level in 2025.
