Our value bet of the round, Collingwood -1.5 ($1.92) was on the money. The Pies did it easily against the Dockers on Friday night at the MCG.
Our multi-bet #2 got up! Hope you got on!
Oh Yes!
The Adelaide Crows are genuine finals contenders. An easy run home means they’re a top four chance, possibly even top two!
The best part about the Collingwood vs. Fremantle game was Dane Swan’s Twitter comments.
Richmond’s, Dustin Martin is a definite smoky for the Brownlow (18-1). Another 35 possessions, 7 marks and 6 clearances, he was clearly best on ground – again!
Upset of the year – so far! St. Kilda wanted the win more than Geelong… and got it! A lazy Cats team came out thinking the Saints would be an easy kill. That mindset meant they went into half time 30 points down. Geelong came out firing in the second half, snatching the lead, albeit briefly, but St. Kilda matched the Cats with their scoreboard pressure, winning by just 3 points in a Saturday night thriller.
A match-winning goal when the game looked to be going Geelong’s way should ensure the Rising Star nod for St Kilda young gun, Jade Gresham.
The Hawks are now on top of the ladder, and one game ahead of the pack! They’re still not winning games until the last quarter. Is it a tactic or is it a problem? Not sure…
Oh No!
The Adelaide Crows kicked 12:28 from 40 scoring shots. It was a behinds total that beat their previous record of 27 points for a game (round 20, 1993). In contrast, North Melbourne had 17 scoring shots for 10:7. Had the Crows kicked straight, it would have been a much uglier result than the eventual 33-point margin.
North Melbourne has now lost four of their last five matches. Their brilliant start to the season means absolutely nothing if they can’t string more wins together to secure a solid position by the time the home and away games are done and dusted. They’re sliding – fast, and it’s not going to get any easier. They have a tough run home.
The wintery conditions meant a little over 20,000 people turned out for the Collingwood vs. Fremantle game at the MCG on Friday night. It was the lowest crowd numbers since WWII!
Fremantle are back to their old defensive ways. Managing only 37 points (5:7) for an entire game is just unacceptable. The Dockers made the Pies look good, and believe me, they weren’t that good!
Totally fed up with a certain 29-year-old full forward, who’s contracted for mega-dollars, being coddled and encouraged by commentators, and the coach, like he’s a seven-year-old Auskick kid! Yeah, you know who I mean…
Brisbane has now lost ten games in a row! Richmond went into cruise-control-mode in the last half. Silly mistakes and showboating cost them the mauling that it should have been. A 42-point win to the Tigers could have easily been 100 points if they played out four quarters of footy.
Geelong’s star mid-fielders, Dangerfield and Motlop both waiting to get back onto the ground in the crucial final minutes of the game. Minutes wasted! Game lost! Massive mistake! When the game is in the balance, I’m pretty sure those two can run out the extra five minutes, without a rest on the sidelines, to ensure the win.
Fox Footy must do something to negate crowd noise during the broadcast at Aurora Stadium. Do they commentate with the windows open? “That word,” ‘monkey,’ was clearly yelled out, and picked up by the microphones, as Aaron Hall (Gold Coast Suns) got a free kick awarded to him at the end of the third quarter (around four minutes to go on the clock). Watch it back, if you can catch a replay, or maybe Fox will do some crafty editing. Anyway, according to Jon Ralph of the Herald Sun, Fox Footy claim the word in question was directed toward the umpire. Yeah, right! We “all” heard you, and we’re all tired of, and appalled by, this unacceptable crowd behaviour! The AFL can trot out pretty coloured guernseys and shoe laces for players to wear, all in the name of bringing awareness to a disease, plight or social issue, but unless they walk the talk in this instance, none of it, and I mean NONE OF IT, matters. It stops NOW! It HAS to stop NOW! A thorough investigation is a must! Let’s see how the AFL handle this one…over to you, Gillon. We’re waiting…
