As Dane Swan announces his retirement, he is very rightly being remembered as one of the best AFL players we have seen so far this century.
He is also being remembered as one of footy’s most entertaining characters. In an era where professionalism has taken away much of the individuality of the game’s stars, Swan broke the mould and stayed completely true to himself both on and off the field.
While there are many classic ‘Swanny’ moments in the media, the time he ‘removed’ his tattoos was surely the best.
Congrats to Dane on a magnificent career. Let’s hope he’s not lost to the footy public.
