The AFL (yes, the one that runs Australian football) is exploring the possibility of running a gaming tournament at Etihad Stadium, and it wants the AFL clubs (yes, again the ones that play Australian football) to form teams.

According to a report in The Age, the league is looking to expand its revenue and sponsorship base through the billion-dollar eSports market.

eSports is essentially professional video gaming and the tournaments are a booming industry, with an annual audience of over 200 million people. The sport is even campaigning for future inclusion at the Olympics.
