AFL Rising Star Nominee
Fremantle’s Heath Chapman has been named the Round Eight NAB AFL Rising Star nominee.
Chapman had a career-high 25 disposals, along with five marks and three inside 50s in Fremantle’s 78-point win against North Melbourne.
The defender showed little signs of fatigue after missing the previous two rounds due to the AFL’s Health and Safety Protocols.
Chapman slotted back into one of the league’s most formidable defences, restricting North Melbourne to three goals for the game.
The 20-year-old had a game-high 12 intercepts and is averaging more than six per match.
Senior coach Justin Longmuir said Fremantle’s cohesion across defence was a crucial part of their impressive start to the season.
