Tonight marks a special occasion for the Carlton Football Club as three iconic figures — Jack Carney, Neil Chandler, and Brendan Fevola — are set to be immortalized in the club’s Hall of Fame.
Established in 1987, the Carlton Hall of Fame honours individuals who have made significant contributions to the club through their records, abilities, integrity, sportsmanship, and character.
Jack Carney (1936-1941) was a revered figure at both Geelong and Carlton, playing 84 games for the Blues and contributing to their 1938 premiership victory over Collingwood. Despite his modest stature, standing at just 162cm, Carney’s passing, skill, and courage earned him respect among his peers. His post-playing career included serving in the RAF during World War II and later supporting Carlton in various roles.
Neil Chandler (1968-1974) was a triple premiership player during Carlton’s golden era in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Known for his versatility and team-first mentality, Chandler’s impact on and off the field was profound, earning him respect as a great teammate and player.
Brendan Fevola (1999-2009) is widely regarded as one of the game’s greatest full-forwards. His thrilling style of play and remarkable goal-scoring ability made him a fan favourite at Carlton, where he kicked 575 goals and won two Coleman Medals. Fevola’s showmanship and knack for creating scoring opportunities out of nothing left a lasting impression on the club and its supporters.
