Chelsea Roffey officiates her 300th AFL match during the Round Six clash between Collingwood and Port Adelaide at the MCG this Saturday.
With a career spanning over two decades, Roffey began her umpiring journey in 1999 with the QAFL before making her AFL debut in 2004. Her impressive career includes officiating in one AFL Grand Final and 16 AFL Final Matches, as well as receiving the Leigh Keen Shield Winner award in 2012.
Throughout her career, Roffey has umpired in front of over 10 million spectators, overseeing a total of 7637 goals and 6891 behinds in games where she served as one of the two goal umpires.
AFL CEO Andrew Dillon praised Roffey’s dedication and performance, describing her achievement as outstanding and noting that reaching 300 games is an unbelievable milestone that the entire football industry admires.
Laura Kane, AFL Executive General Football Operations, highlighted Roffey’s role as a role model for aspiring umpires, particularly women, and commended her dedication to supporting the next generation of umpires.
Roffey’s milestone comes with an impressive list of accomplishments, including being the 58th umpire overall and the 8th goal umpire to officiate 300 AFL games. Her contributions to umpiring and the sport as a whole are highly valued and celebrated by the AFL community.
