Collingwood has made a significant move in its post-season list management by delisting three players, including injury-plagued tall Nathan Kreuger. Kreuger, 25, managed only 13 senior games over three seasons due to a string of injuries. Despite his resilience and dedication to returning from these setbacks, the Magpies’ list boss, Justin Leppitsch, confirmed that the club is shifting focus towards recruiting “battering rams” to support key forwards like Brody Mihocek and Dan McStay. Kreuger was ultimately deemed surplus to requirements.
In addition to Kreuger, the club also parted ways with Supplemental Selection Period (SSP) recruits Jack Bytel and Josh Eyre. Bytel played seven games at senior level in 2024 after joining the club from St Kilda, while Eyre, who had a delayed season start due to a severe hamstring injury, was unable to make a significant impact.
Leppitsch praised all three players for their professionalism, acknowledging their contributions at both VFL and AFL levels, despite limited senior opportunities. He especially commended Kreuger for his commitment and resilience in the face of ongoing injuries.
Collingwood’s focus now shifts towards securing new talent, with speculation surrounding the possible signings of St Kilda’s Tim Membrey or Jack Hayes, who are both out of contract. The Magpies have also been linked to Melbourne’s Adam Tomlinson, although no formal approaches have been made by other clubs.
