Geelong captain Joel Selwood has been offered a reprimand and 84 demerit points for pushing brother and West Coast player Adam during the first quarter of the Eagles victory over the Cats at Patersons Stadium on Friday Night.

The Match Review Panel deemed it a level one misconduct charge for making unnecessary or unreasonable contact with an injured player.

The incident occurred late in the first term where Adam laid a hefty bump on Joel. The elder brother, Adam, was still laying on the ground when Joel got to his feet. Obviously angry, Joel went over to Adam pushed him with two open hands in the side and ran off. Adam was later helped from the field by two West Coast trainers, but eventually returned to the match.

In other charges laid by the MRP, Gold Coast youngster Harley Bennell was offered a $900 sanction with an early plea for making contact for the first time with an umpire, in this case Matthew Leppard, during the third quarter of the Suns’ historic first victory at Metricon Stadium against the GWS Giants.

Carlton live-wire Mitch Robinson has been charged with a second offence for wrestling with Brisbane’s Ryan Harwood during the final quarter of Saturday night’s match at Etihad Stadium. He can accept a $1800 fine with an early plea.

Hamish Hartlett of Port Adelaide has been offered a one-match sanction with an early plea for a level three striking offence on Hawthorn’s Cyril Rioli during the first quarter on Sunday at Aurora Stadium.

Western Bulldog Ryan Hargrave has also been offered a one-match sanction with an early plea for the same offence as Robinson, except against Tiger Daniel Jackson during the third quarter of the Bulldogs 70 point loss to Richmond on Sunday at the MCG.

Other incidents assessed were the match day report against Mitch Robinson of Carlton, the melee between a group of Hawthorn and Port Adelaide players during quarter time at Aurora Stadium, contact between Bulldog Liam Picken and Tiger Brett Deledio and contact between Essendon’s Nathan Lovett-Murray and Kangaroo Lachie Hansen, but these were all thrown out.
