Yes, folks as you’ve guessed this edition will centre on the great man himself. J.J. Watt has simply lifted to another level and in doing so gives the Texans a fighting chance in every match. Unfortunately the Texans offence doesn’t share my sentiments and are doing everything possible to lose matches. Thankfully having Watt turned another boring Thursday night matchup into something worth watching.
The Thursday night matchup between the Texans and the Colts started off the same as every other Thursday night matchup. Thankfully Watt took control and led the Texans from a 24 point deficit and cut it down to a 33-28 lead to the Colts. Unfortunately the offence of the Texans decided that holding onto the ball was too hard, handing the Colts the win. (33-28) Colts
For just the 3rd time in 23 games the Browns led by Brian Hoyer stunned the Steelers and handed them their biggest loss since 1989. It’s nice to see the Browns finally starting to win after being a basket case for so long. The best thing about the Browns and Hoyer winning is that it keeps Manziel from getting on the field. Brilliant. (10-31) Browns
It would seem that Tom Brady is back. For the moment. Again Brady has kept the doubters at bay as he routed the Bills to extend Brady’s record against the Bill’s to 23-2. Once again Orton started for the benched Manuel and it was a typical game from him, throwing TDs and turning the ball over. It wasn’t all good news for the Pats though as they lost Ridley to a nasty knee injury. (37-22) Patriots
The first tie of the season occurred and it wasn’t a nil all draw between the Jags and Raiders. Unfortunately for the Bengals the game rested on the boot of Nugent who missed a 36 yard attempt on the final play of overtime. Some controversy has come out of the game after footage of Bengals star LB Vontaze Burficit showed him twisting the ankles of Olsen and Newton. (37-37) It’s like kissing your cousin
It was the definition of a cripple fight. Jacksonville came to Tennessee and both teams just squandered all over the place. It came down to the final play of the game and Jacksonville had a chance from 55yards out to win on a field goal. Sammie Hill blocked the field goal giving the terrible Titans their second win of the season. At least the Jags have Bortles to look forward to cause the Titans have nought. (14-16) Titans
It certainly was a tale of two halves in Miami. The Packers came out in the first half and dominated. It seems they stayed in the locker rooms at half time and the Dolphins came out hot after Tannehill had an absolute shocker in the first half. Injuries to Lattimore, Williams and Shields certainly made life easier for Tannehill, but either way he was nearly perfect in the second half. It took some Aaron Rodgers magic and some inspiration from Dan Marino to overcome the Phins. (27-24) Packers
Calvin Johnson missed again and the Lions struggled offensively as they overcame the Vikings in a low scoring NFC North matchup. Bridgewater started his second game and it was one he would rather forget as he threw three INTs. Once again the Lions are having troubles kicking field goals as Prater missed another 2 attempts. This is starting to become a massive problem for the Lions. (17-3) Lions
Manning will have to wait another week to break Favre’s record of 508 TDs. Things aren’t going well for the Jets and Geno Smith as they lost their 5th straight game which is starting to put coach Ryan on the hotseat. The Broncos are going strong though and are showing that they are the 2nd best side in the AFC at the moment. (31-17) Broncos
I’ve given a lot of stick to the Jags and Raiders and while bad sides they don’t match the utter ineptness that is currently being displayed by Tampa. Once again they were smacked around this time by Flacco and the Ravens. Flacco put up 28 points in the first quarter alone, throwing 5 TDs for the day. Lovie Smith won’t last the season, at least Schiano was winning matches. (48-17) Ravens
It was nearly a major upset victory in the Bay Area, as coming off a bye and new coach the Raiders fell painfully short of the Chargers. It was a masterful aerial display by both Rivers and Carr, unfortunately for the later he threw an interception that allowed Rivers to engineer the game winning drive. (31-28) Chargers
It was a battle of inconsistency as the Bears travelled to Atlanta to see which team ran hot and cold the most. In the end it was the ground game of the Bears that was the difference and the surprisingly inaccurate play of Ryan that saw the Falcons slump to a 2-4 record. Luckily the NFC South is weak this year, while the Bears maintained contact with the Lions and Packers. (27-13) Bears
DeMarco Murray is putting up a hell of a season becoming just the second running back in NFL history to start the season with 6 100yd rushing games. He achieved it against the Seahawks nonetheless. The Cowboys also became the first team since 2011 to win in Seattle outside of the NFC West. Russel Wilson was forced to shoulder the load and he couldn’t handle the pressure this time. Dallas fans are ready to crown their team as the best in the NFL, maybe prematurely. (30-23) Cowboys
Kirk Cousins is throwing away a perfect opportunity to take over the starting job in Washington DC. Palmer returned for the Cards and with his return the Cards had a passing game again. The Cards are also getting their mojo back on defence and are now in control of the NFC West again after the Seahawks loss. (20-30) Cardinals
Once again Coughlin and Eli might need to start looking for new jobs after a deplorable display against NFC East rivals the Eagles. The Giants are digging themselves into a hole and I don’t think they will be able to get out of this one. The Eagles were impressive on defence though running through the turnstiles that was the Giants offensive line. (0-27) Eagles
It started out so positively for the Rams, leading 14-0 at the quarter but how quickly things changed as Kaep and the 49ers kicked into gear to come storming home. The Rams vaunted pass rush has only managed 2 sacks on the season I believe and it’s not helping their team at all rise from the basement in the NFC West. Uniforms looked good though. (31-17) 49ers
Things to look forward to in Week 7:
- No Eagles
- Can the Jags or Raiders finally secure a win?
- J.J. Watt v the Steelers O-line
- Aaron Rodgers pull plays from his proverbial
