so wiggins and garlett go into the fwd line for who? Yarran was OK I thought

I'd play Yaz in the senior team all year, even if he drops his form a little. He's going to develop more in the senior side than what he will with the Ants. As for Garlett, maybe start him on the bench.

One thing I will say about Garlett, if Lewis Jetta can play on the wing for the Swans, then Garlett can play up the ground for Carlton. With his speed, not to many opposition players would be able to catch him.

Wiggo was great, hard and tough, tackled, and took it on himself to kick the long set shots at the times when they were needed, will be hard to overlook him next week.

Love Jacobs, a true tap ruckmen and rarely mucks it up, protects those around him and should be in before Warnock.

I think these 2 should come in this week, with Houlihan & Warnock sent back to the VFL (of course another 2 will miss out for Judd & possibly Bower, maybe Robbo & the injured McLean). We will need Chief's hardness against Adelaide & I think he could be a handy 3rd option up forward, allowing Hendo to play a little closer to goal.

Everytime I see Sauce play (which isn't often enough unfortunately) his ruckwork impresses me. He is an old style tap ruckman, but he has definitely improved his work around the ground, compared to where he was at a couple of years ago.

So we're back to relying on the likes of Chief and later Fish to save us. We really need more players that cannot kick an Australian Rules football in the team.
that is my worry. Wiggo is not the future.

If I was picking the side, Chief would be one of the 1st blokes I select.

I really like him as a high up forward. Does his best work there for mine, then running back into 50 with the flight of the footy to get the crumb.

I actually enjoyed watching this game as opposed to the blues game later in the evening. Its good to see some of the younger guys taking on the opposition from the backline with run and handball and there are some good signs that a few know how to read the play and are willing to take the risk of leaving their man to spoil or intercept.

WHITE
Thought he played well. Yeah he played on Hurley at different times and was occasionally beaten but such was the delivery to him and Hurley's undoubted skill that even Jamieson would have struggled to contain him. Reads the play well and is willing to leave his man to intercept and or run down the field as a link player. Did this a couple of times to create goals.

KERR
Played very well. He was a little quiet in the first half but was very good in the second. Foot passing was great and always to the advantage of team mates (other than one were he was called to play on and kicked into man on the mark). If you are going to use comparisons then Fraser Brown/Didak would be a lot fairer than Sporn. At this stage not the most athletic but certainly has a football brain and huge upside.

CASCHIA
I dont have access to stats but would imagine he had it a shitload. Always seemed to be near enough to the pack to be a link in the handball chain. Does tend to go for the long kick into the forward 50 and could probably drop his vision a little at times. My perception is that he also a little slow on take off particularly when chasing the opposition.

GARLETT
Very good. Makes things happen and you wish he could do it more often. Kicked a couple of good ones and probably missed a couple he should have kicked.

DAVIES
He did a couple of good things but the most interesting was watching him, and White marshalling across the half back line (looks like the future) He also is willing to run through the middle as a link up player and did it a few times.

DARE
Was good. Certainly knows how to read the play and took several marks across the back line. His kicking can improve and made a couple of mistakes but otherwise a good performance.

ELLARD
Again no stats sheet available but he would have had a lot of touches and clearances. Unfortunately for him he's generally in a pack and hardly seen and the disposal not always polished through circumstances. He had a couple of shots on goals and if they had gone through we would have been singing his praises.

CASBOULT
Had a very good third quarter, where he lead, marked and kicked long goals. Generally good game but occasionally bustled out in pack situations.

WIGGINS
His marking and kicking for goal today was exceptional. Kicked through the ball and didnt look like missing. Unfortunately still has problems with his passing particularly with short passes. On todays effort play him forward and instruct him to kick at goal only.

HADLEY
We all know how Hadley plays, unfortunately I didnt think today was one of his better efforts. Its a bit disappointing considering McLean may be out next week.

JOHNSON
Was good in patches but just too inconsistant. Turned over the ball a few times with poor disposal and then shortly after kicks the ball perfectly to the centre, follows up and puts a perfect pass into the forwards. If only he could do it everytime.

BROWNE
Can't say I noticed him much.

JACOBS
Would be getting a game with good majority of teams in the AFL. Good tap ruckman who can take a mark.

ANDERSON
I enjoy that he attacks the game with run and carry, unfortunately today he was too erratic often running himself into trouble. He needs to compose himself a little.

TOUHY
Bit of a surprise that his skills are as good as they are. Will still need time to adapt to this style of game. Watched him waltz through a congested pack and on getting to the other side unscathed was a little slow in getting rid of the ball and was crunched. It would have been very impressive if he had got his disposal off.

A little lengthy.....but if your keen enjoy.

I agree, but you'd know that.

Start going back to the well now would truly be one huge backward step for us.
No offence to the boys in question, but no thanks.

That's drunk talk!

We'd need a coach who thinks outside of the square to even contemplate playing someone with Garlett's legspeed on a wing.

We should have picked him for last night.

Playing another game breaker who can kick and run fast would have been a backward step if you're playing the Bombers.:rolleyes:

Can see where you're coming from TG but it wouldn't have made a jot of difference with about 16 other blokes out there playing with the intensity of fairy floss.

Hurley was named as the best player for the Bombers, while White was not named in the Bullants best 6 despite the two being opposed for most of the game. Is this often the case for a player that is pantsed by another IYO? White was also being helped out by Anderson and Dare, and despite all of this, Hurley was one of the better players on the ground. I'm sure you were at Visy, but was it; Visy Recyclers Glass Division in Laverton or Visy Industrial Packaging in Dandenong  He was definately well beaten, which, is no disgrace as Hurley is an extremely good player.

I didn't think Kerr's skills stood out as an AFL level players in comparison to the VFL listed players. His kicking looks like he will be middle of the road in any AFL (average). Outstanding?!?! Where you the guy with the red and white glasses on? :)

On a side note;

Jacobs looks 10x more mobile than he has in the past. He appears to have taken the hand-brake off and was getting to a stack more contests than he would not have in the past.

Also, I noticed Clint Benjamin was at the game! Would anyone know what is going on with him? I am really suprised he was delisted so quickly when poor-prospect players like Bentley were given a contract and players like; Hartlett, Edwards, Wiggins, Bannister, Bentick etc were persisted with beyond an initial contract?!?

Seems every other report on here is with me on Kerr :)

I don't look at who is named in the best, I watch the game :). I may have exaggerated as I am a fan of White....he didn't pants him, but he at the very least broke even with Hurley in the 1 on 1 contests (which is where HUrley usually at his best)....Hurls beat him a couple of times on the lead but with lace out delivery...other than that White got the points in my book.....White won't be the first or last to lose out in that situation. what do you mean he was helped out by the others??? They rotated onto Hurls, and that's when Hurls had his most influence on the game

I tried to register with talking carlton over a week ago and my account still hasn't been activated.
Does it always take this long?
I want to join so I can see the bullants match reports.
