I don’t hate that line-up

I quite like it in fact. Would be good to get Nank in there - deserves a spot over Pedlar on “recent” form. I also think Nankervis could be handy fwd of centre with his clever disposals and side steps.

I would have thought Dowling and Taylor were ahead of Pedlar, although i like aspects of what Pedlar brings and hope he has a breakout season.

Taylor, great natural footballer ....looking at training, he seems to be cruising, rather than really pushing himself

Dowling wouldn't be in our best 22 currently .....but Nank would be unlucky, will still play 15+ games this year

Pedlar ...well, he's always been my pinup ...and one bad year doesn't define a career

I think Pedlar has a higher ceiling than either Dowling, Taylor or Nankervis. Having said that, he didn't go anywhere near living up to his potential in 2024. Fingers crossed he's gotten over all his injuries and put in the hard work required on his fitness, and is now in a position to put his best foot forward in 2025.

I like Pedlar a lot, but for one reason or another he's never managed to live up to expectations. Hopefully 2025 will be the year where it all starts to work for him.

I concur

Lets see Murphy do that. He would be busy laying on the ground clutching his neck.
People quickly forget what Pedlar is capable of .....he makes things happen, call it "X" factor

There was a game where Pedlar ran full tilt, through traffic, scooped up the ball on the move, exited sideways, and then kicked the goal and it was one of those moments that not everyone can do.
Against the Saints a few years ago when he also played in the midfield which was why many of us thought last year would be his breakout season but there was murmur of him being unprofessional in the preseason so his start to the season was very poor then got dropped and then injuries wipe out his entire season, there's a post on his thread with highlight of that game which was posted on X.

He has 2xAA guernsey's in that position though. When he was playing well there, it was a lot like his midfield time - lots of gives and gets, working out of trouble, not too many long kicks. He was bloody effective there in the past, and if he "wants to" be a defensive and tackling machine, he's capable as well.
If he embraces the role and channels his younger self re attitude and team first stuff he can make it work well for the team

Big IF , jury out until we see him this year

No one doubts that

He just needs to show it consistently

He was out of shape last year from the get go , got ahead of himself after a great 2023
Talking of which ....similar occurrence this year with Harley Reid ....not in the best shape, and already picking up injuries

We wouldn't take aim at a player from another Club ....but we're quick to right off our own

Can't argue with that and he has runs on the board except it was a long time ago.

I think the game and the expectations around defenders has changed. I think we might end up having better options in our backline.

I will be over the moon if we select this side round 1

I think our best 22 is quite close to this. In my side I had Sholl, Nankervis and Draper in; Laird, Jones and Milera out.

Selecting Milera is fine if he performs well, and obviously I understand that Laird is extremely likely to be selected. Still feel Draper should be in there, probably instead of Jones. Sholl as well, not devastated if he misses.

I know it wants to be great news...BUT its an internal trial and until the real stuff starts, I am not going to get excited as too many seasons past we have enthused over how well such and such trained, how fit they looked etc only to get a horror show in the season as almost everyone else was better than us. But I am hoping for no injuries and all being match fit and ready to go round 1.

Don't reckon this is the absolute A team with Crouch missing.

Why not? Our midfield mix looks great without him

Dawson, Rankine, Peatling, Soligo as the main rotation, can also bring in Rachele, Curtin, Pedlar and Neal-Bullen as a second rotation. Draper to come in to the side at some point.

With that mix and Curtin's strong pre-season I don't see the need for Crouch

There is no way Nicks doesn't start Laird.
He'll play at least to the byes but I do think he will find himself out of the side at some point this year.
