Ben two years since he was fit so this is coming on a 3rd. Sometimes you don't get to choose your exit 😭

At least he'll always have this

Winning a premiership is special, but how much more special is it winning one alongside your brother

I don’t want to say it - but cuthrie is cooked

That sounds like virtually done to me. I doubt he will announce an early year retirement given the chance we might play finals but realistically you would think this is cams last year (no contract extension).

Especially when he's only on a one year deal and he's hungry. I liked him at draft time so I am hoping he will get to show what he can do in the vfl this year.

Always knew Guthrie would struggle, but the two that bother me are Conway and managh…

Big blow if Conway has been limited all pre season and managh. Expected big years from both.
It feels like mannagh will be fine. Maybe impacts his first month of the season, but should be ok after that.

Toby is just doing what Toby does. We need To accept that his body is not reliable. Anything we get from him is a bonus.

Very much reads like a re-injury, but the club is not disclosing it. Poor Guth. Absolute gun at his peak, but I think this year will be his final year - given his contract expires

Would have been such a handy add to our midfield, at full flight, but happy to concede that this seems very unlikely now.

I wasnt particularly fussed on his selection or non-selection. Just brutal to do a syndesmosis surgery on a one year contract

Agreed although it's hard to push for another contract if he's not fit to play vfl was my point.
But our sheer number of retirements might go in his favour re getting a 2nd year.

They obviously like him enough to draft his as a rookie.. so you’d figure that not being totally jammed for rookie list spots he’d reasonably get a second year if he gets out of the gates slowly this year which he will clearly.

IMO he just needs to show something in the year to reinforce why they picked him. But yeah.. he’s gotta get out there to flash.

Go Catters

Mitch edwards may very well surpass him this year. Big watch on him

Guthrie update:

Geelong midfielder Cameron Guthrie has undergone surgery on his achilles...

..“Our medical and high performance team are confident that surgery was the best step for Cameron to fully recover and give himself the best chance to perform,” Mackie said.

“The aim for Cameron is to be back on the track in the next fortnight and integrated into football drills within the month. A return to play timeline will be finalised in the early stages of the season.”

He looks a prospect doesn't he.
6' 10" in the old measure , competitive and athletic. Just needs time in the gym to fill out and build core strength.
Our young talls have put on size this year - Neale , SDK and COS all looked in fantastic knick yesterday :thumbsu:

Agree Cuthrie is probably done.

But I'd love for him to get back in the second half of the season and play as a small defender. We don't really have a great option for that role as it stands.
