Bit left field but I wonder how Weddle would go playing on Greene? He'd certainly get a great education re: the footy smarts of one of the best forward/mids of the modern era. And could potentially hurt him on the rebound if he's diligent enough.
Just a thought
Greene would kick a bag on Weddle. Just too smart with his body positioning.
I’d prefer Weddle to be at the other end of the ground, think HFF would suit best.

Agreed, Greenes biggest asset (footy smarts) is Wedds biggest deficiency.

I like the call for Wedds down forward, I'd see how he goes as an old fashioned free roaming CHF.

Whatever role Weddle was playing last night is the one he should stick with.

Was great around the ball and had seven or eight chances to take big contested marks. He dropped them, but in better conditions + some added confidence he can break a game open.

Not just Greene, there is also Finn Callaghan too. Need answers for both

Weddle and Maginess have to take roles on both these. Keen to see how our Finn goes with their Finn

If our players are elite like they are in this passage, we will account for the Giants. Everyone is elite, starting with Battle, then mass, then Day, then Gunners and the icing is the Wizard, poor Cripps was gassed at the end.

This should be an interesting match. They will back themselves to beat us with their own game, so I don’t think we see the same style as the last 2 weeks.

I want Hust in the team, but this may be the worst opponent for him given their speed.
I'm not sure.

GWS have a very strong midfield both physically and ability. Tom Green and Callaghan are guns. Throw in Cogs, Toby Green and Kelly, that is a good rotation. Much better than Bombers and Blues, who both beat us in clearances

Even though Ward and Frenchie are on the up, I feel another midfielder to back up is needed.....therefor, this could be a great opportunity to bring in HH.

He knows how to get the ball and use and can also kick a goal.

If we want pace to replace Cmac, then maybe Bmac gets his chance or we go with Smitch. I can't see Bruest coming in.

It will be interesting to see which way Sam and the match committee go.

This will be an impressive win if we can manage it. Even a close loss would still fill me with confidence given it will come without Worpel, Scrimshaw, Dear, Lewis and maybe Croc.

A 10 day break will be quite beneficial for us after the high intensity start to the season. A rare night game at Tassie also which we should be well adapted to after 3 night blockbusters in a row.

Compared to GWS who’ve been playing days. They maybe sluggish coming off an early bye. We can at least hope it’s acted as a circuit breaker for their good starting form line.

The nice thing is that we have a lot of runners "spare" at the moment. People like Moore, McGuiness, etc. could see a shift in their role to cover Croc, should the coaches want to do that. That means we have a lot of flexibility in terms of people we could bring in. Most likely will be Breust or Hustwaite, but could also be Frost or even Ramsden (who apparently played well last week).

The problem with Hust coming in is that he can only play midfield. Means one
or more of Day, Duke or Nash have to sacrifice some of their midfield time.

Or Ward and Frenchy get no midfield time.

We’d be weakening our midfield to get him in. The one place on the ground we can’t weaken anymore currently.

Can you play both Breust and Gunner in the one fwd line?

I'm ok bringing in Breust as a sub for this.

I’m thinking we’ll need the midfield grunt for this one. The back and forward lines have played consistently well for two games now, so use the cmac opening to enhance the mids. HH is an option but he’s too inside, I feel. I’ll have to see how the BHH mids played to make a pick.

Newk, Day, Nash, French and Ward should be enough midfield grunt. Moore can also be called upon. As you said tonight's Box Hill game will give us an indication. The other Macdonald a smokey.

Disagree. If you have a good look at how the opposition are setting up, they are instructing a defensive mid to sit on Day at clearances. Countless time yesterday he was first to get his hands on the ball only to be driven into the ground. In the long term it’s a burden on him that is unsustainable. Day would benefit tremendously from having Hustwaite be that guy. And the second in the chain mids, will dine out on his deft touch and quick hands.
