Review Round 2 Postgame - Loss Against Sydney at Home

Our coach is horrible, deadset horrible. We won't realise for months, so we'll continue to waste our time.

Said Voss can't kick last season, he somehow got worse

Cox is.......honestly, just.......unbelievably soft

Umpiring was f***ed. As poor as we were, they literally played a role in 80% of there goals. Said last season they're protected species and here we are

The first quarter was decent but it was excruciating after that.

Treacy, Jacko, JOM, Jonno, NOD and Wagner ok. Hard to find any positives amongst the rest.

Longmuir is just not up to it unfortunately. I suggest the players be forced to listen to his press conference's on a loop until they learn how to play football that is worth watching. This footy by Freo is the most dour, listless garbage imaginable. FFS get the ball moving.

Ryan is fat and useless, just a shadow of the player he was. Cox is a pathetic player once he can't mark the ball. Getting out manoeuvred by Amarty to conceded the final goal of the game was the weakest effort I have seen for a long time.

We have lost our last 6 games now and it's hard to see where our next win is coming from. Time to bring back the vanilla game plan.

If we lost this game last season I would have left the game feeling annoyed and deflated. Today I left feeling indifferent because I know that JLo isn't the answer so these results don't matter.

This current freo side is making me fall out of love with footy.
I didn’t even care much if we won or not during that second half.

Justin Longmuirs football style is like one of those dementors from Harry Potter.
Sucking the life, soul and enjoyment out of following this team for me.
Same, and it was the exact same feeling I had during RTBs last year here.

If you watch that game in isolation of the expectation, the coach situation and our end to last year, that loss is squarely on the players.

Expected score we win by 9 points.

Blame the players who missed the high percentage shots.

The mids got outworked at stoppages around the ground but halved the centre clearance and they got us enough quality entries to win it.

I'm usually very forgiving of the players but not today, they may have killed their much loved (internally) coach there.

We are a bottom 4 side right now… that’s where we are at.

We're very obviously not any chance of a prelim, so I'd genuinely rather us finish bottom 4 to guarantee the coach change and give us a better chance to improve the list.

We are gonna lose to the Eagles next week I know it
They're out to **** us. They'll roll over and let us belt them by 10 goals to secure 2 more years of JL. You watch.

The way 5 of these 6 losses have followed the exact same ****ing script.

Cox heroics featuring in quite a few of them. Absolute piss weak contest at the end with Amartey. The second he got pushed out of position he didn’t even attempt to get a fist in.

Voss needs to learn his ****ing limits. Two kicks he went for goal when he didn’t have it in him at all and should’ve gone to the square. Then missing the ones he needs to get.

Thought Wagner was pretty decent and seemed to be the only defender with any intent to move the ball forward at all.

Makes me want to rip my hair out watching us let Sydney get their entire defence set up before even thinking about taking the kick in. Meanwhile every Sydney kick in the ball was gone before the umpires finished waving the flag. They’d get end to end in two kicks.

JL needs to go and he needs to go now. Completely wasting this list. How can you have the same scenario in 5 of your last 6 games and lose the same way every time.
This.

But not a peep in the media about it.

I just dont know how to process that without getting really mean to players. Two of the worst individual crunch time moments I've ever seen from Cox and Voss, like, they should just drop themselves. I'm so ****ing angry.

There are so many coaching moments to pick on that it's hard to list. Opened up repeatedly, poor structure, forwards not leading at the ball, inability to move ****ong forward.

Seriously throw the year, take some draft picks and get a new coach.
We would be doing way better with Lyon coaching.

Simply lovely. Players in crowded areas continually trying to take possession knowing full well that they will be tackled within a second, Banfield took possession from that NOD kick out of the defence and he was lucky he managed a half arsed handball to a player running past because the Sydney player grabbed him immediately. We ended up with a shot at goal (Voss from an angle that he missed completely) but it Shows a mentality of taking possession when a simple tap was a way better option. But taps don’t go on the stat sheet, do they?
Even Eagles today on several occasions they got the ball out of the congestion effectively with a tap. Lot’s of teams do it. Not us clearly which is strange for a team more than happy to use hands rather than feet. Nah, let’s just handball to a stationary player surrounded by opponents if not tackled before that

This is a coaching issue, it’s stating the obvious but some people still blame players

1. Avoid a poor start, too many times we are multiple goals down in the first quarter, and quite often this is less than the final margin
2. Hold on to a lead should we be in front at 3/4 time
3. Something that actually resembles forward pressure
4. Increasing our scoring from turnover and be more efficient at scoring from clearances
5. Not over possessing the football

Well it was 1/5 this time. So that's an improvement I guess

Tracy kicked 4 goals. That was good.

We actually lead and led well at quarter time 4 goals to 0.

It just wasn't the fact we lost. It's how we lost.

Swans were goalless in the 1st quarter and somehow found a way to win .

A semi decent coach would of got us the win and made us kick 13 or 14 or 15 goals today.

I agree on most here. We are wasting this Young and talented playing list under Justin Longmuir

Do NOT mention that man's name. I want him no where near the club as long as Longmire is available. I hope to God Garlic doesn't sell out our club just to look after his mate.
I hope not, but those rumours started last year for a reason...I can't help but feel that it is inevitable. Longmire would be ideal, but I don't see it.
