List clean out is urgently needed

Honestly what players on our list now could be pushing for a next tilt for a flag
We know the anwer to that, a very select handfull at best. The others are holding up trades and getting games into young draftees.

However a big but is that we must havce a clear strategy and much better management, allent identification and development. This has to come first (like May-Jun 22) or we just see the wheel spin again.

I blame Optus and hard WA surfaces we train on and El Nino amd global warming.

Get the club to water the grounds every night before training to soften and also prep for handling ground ball better.

Train with footies from day 1 of pre season.

Get decent tackling and fitness people.

Malcom Blight reckons training on a wet track is what lost his cats the 94 grand final

Hopefully Simpson finally sees the writing on the wall that our "senior" players arent up to it anymore.

Our hunger and energy comes from the kids we play and we need to play them as much as possible.
Injuries are opening the door for the youth so I see them a not so much of a negative.
Let's face it, the likes of natanui aren't getting any younger and we need to see what Williams and co have to offer.

How much our sponsors affect the selections is the remaining factor but we desperately need to start prioritising the youth in our side.

Allen.
Rioli.
Ryan.
Naish.
Duggan.
Barrass.
Cole.
Yeo.

Cant think of any others.

Maybe.
Petrucelli.
Edwards.

That's from those that have played imo.

Jack Williams
Hough (star)
Chesser
Clark (potentially as a second tier mid or fringe player)
Bazzo
Nelson potentially as a fringe player.
Rotham if he pulls his head out of his arse as he has all the talent. Career trajectory astonishingly similar to that of Sheps.
Kelly
Sheed

So realistically anywhere up to 17 i'd say. I also think one of Strnadica, Bailey Williams or Dixon will claim the second ruck role.

So potentially 3 star forwards.
2 Ageing but still potential star mids. Yeo may move back to the backline, Kelly to HF.
1 Star key back in Barrass
1 Star mid in Hough with hopefully Chesser having the potential to join him.

So realistically in the next 2 drafts we need 3 very good mids with at least one being a star, A genuine first ruck and a great run, carry and kick small/medium defender.

Things are never as bad or as good as you think. We could realistically be beginning to challenge in 2026 but more likely 2027 if we do things right.

Very good point. 100% agree that a lot needs to fall on our coaching staff. You have to question why so many are injuried last 4 season. It's been disgraceful. Also strength and conditioning I'm real dissapointed in. Seeing Nic Nat overweight is the nail in the coffin for them and there jobs. I'd its like that for Nic Nat its like that for the whole list. Complacent nutrition and fitness staff we have. We came into round 1 underdone before Covid hit. We were unfit.

yep Flyin Ryan is looking a bit pudgy around the guts too. Don't know what's happened to our once great club but since covid everything has gone down hill very fast. Also did anyone notice how big Oscar was looking in those training photos, no wonder he had a foot injury.
