yep Flyin Ryan is looking a bit pudgy around the guts too. Don't know what's happened to our once great club but since covid everything has gone down hill very fast. Also did anyone notice how big Oscar was looking in those training photos, no wonder he had a foot injury.

Yep, noticed the pudge on Ryan. Was looking at the Freo players today against Essenscum, and they are all in ripping condition, far better than our boys. I think we have gone to sleep at the wheel, so as to speak, and have run off the road.

I find it laughable that everyone who has one quarter of a football brain could see the issues west coast have with the dearth of quality young players, issue with an aging D grade midfield unit, aging game plan yet WCE seem to be backing in the old boys when its proven they are not up to it anymore.

It would be good management to list all of our draft picks and trades, at value, over the apst 10 years and rate them against the drafting of other clubs. You may call it measuring performance.

Gee yeah that's going to entice talent to the club if no 5 year contracts on the table

Pay as you play ....lol ...yeah F88k cohesion and team work lets just all be selfish pricks and hog the ball all to ourselves and get our stats up

I think you are missing the real issue here
5 year contracts have been proven over and over to be a massive risk. Of all the clubs, we're at the top of the tree when it comes to retention. If the club has a max 3-year contract policy then when players go to market they know our position (and hence no that it's not a reflection on what we think their value is). If they want to take 4 or 5 years elsewhere, we let them.

If we are serious about trade value and rebuilding quickly (and I appreciate it would be like shooting Bambi).......we should put Nic Nat up for trade. There, I said it

Even now, he would be worth an early first, if not 2. Or, a first and a very early second round pick at worst

Again, it would be a brutal call. But he has maybe 2 years left max, and he still has currency and massive marketability

His best playing days are sadly behind him
Hate to break the news to you but he’s out of contract this year and a free agent. How do you get a first and second for him?

What is Nic Nat worth? I'd trade him in a heartbeat for market value (whatever that is). I'd trade anyone bar OA and Chesser for market value. Probably Shuey is the only other one off limits - not going to trade the club captain and norm smith medalist. He's probably the only one who does have credits even though he's past his best.

He maybe has 2 years left meaning the clubs that pays the most will think his additional will put them in flag territory.

St Kilda? Swans? Geelong? Bulldogs?

I don't see a really obvious fit, but maybe a pick between 15 and 25. I'd take it.

Naitanui is one stiff breeze away from retirement now, nobody is trading for him. And we shouldn’t anyway, his ongoing role mentoring young rucks will be invaluable.

We don’t have many players of much trade value that would consider leaving. Darling and Gaff are the two I’d throw out there but neither could command much at their age/form.

I think if Gaff and Darling can find form again they will command a good price come October but it's a big if especially from Darling who is really struggling to play 4 quarters.

Gee, some supporters can be so fickle.

There's no chance we're trading Nic Nat, we'll give him a role within the club once he retires, he'll be an Eagle for life.
At the moment he's far too valuable marketing-wise anyway, you know Trev is all about the $$

market value...by the kilogram?

probability yedls but still chance of being
When you see a freak athlete like Judd, Nic Nat or Lance Franklin. Those type of players are always going to go top 4 in the draft.

That's why bottoming out is good sometimes. We need to make sure we nail that superstar pick this year.

Come end of season we need to clean out half our list.
Some big calls needed

Shuey needs tap on the shoulder to retire
Kennedy Hurn Reddon obvious Retire aswell. Trade Yeo Gaff Sheed Darling all on the table.

Delist Cripps Nelson Cole and any other player not in our future plans.

Sack Simmo for a fresh new coach.
Full rebuild mode in 2023 with new coach and a complete list turn around.

Yeah we will be crap for a few years but it's what's needed now then hoping these old farts turn it around. We are past our prime and last night shown a light on where we are at.

I'd rather what youth then the pathetic old team we have now.

Very close to being completely on the moment. Simpson has to go otherwise you can see him playing Shuey, Redden, Hurn, Kennedy forever. Needs to start transitioning now. He sacked Priddis, needs to not wait until the seas
Football is about premierships. This group's window has passed. If we can offload a player, maybe even two, for a low draft pick then we should. That means pretty much everyone is on the table.

Has nothing to do with being fickle.

No one is offering any pick lower than 30 for the names being thrown up for trade, that bird has flown. It's going to be a long rebuild relying on the draft e.g. finish bottom 4 3 years running which will be realistic combined with buying new players when the cash becomes available at the end of the long and pricey contracts given to Gaff, Yeo, McGovern, Kelly, Darling, Sheed - not sure what Shuey, Kennedy, NN and Hurn are on. Can't imagine anyone other than Duggan, Allen, Ryan, Barrass are on anything more than 250-300 per year (Rioli should be with next contract). Drop kick clubs like Melbourne, Essendon, Fremantle, North Melbourne, Gold Coast have been plundering top 10 picks for 5 years +, we are miles off overtaking their playing lists doing the same thing they've done.

You are more than likely correct but there is a chance that NN might want to win a premiership and he will not win one with us. He may want to go?
