Sounds like they’re gonna give Worrell a crack

Watching Newchurch in the Twos this year, the key difference is he is much stronger over the ball. He has plenty to work on but his speed on Docklands could cause some headaches for the Blues.

I love Parnell with ball in hand but he could be monstered. I expect that we will bring in Hinge but I would love to see Patty (if you see him in the flesh he looks like he has just started high school).

My third long shot is Strachan. Losing the centre square at Docklands is a recipe for disaster. If we are going to give Rob a “rest”, this is the week to do it.

At Docklands, we have the need for speed. Players who are slow by foot or slow reacting are useless.

Out - Smith, McHenry, Brown, ROB, Crouch

In - Milera, Hamill, Newchurch, Strachan, Worrell
I'd love to see those 3 non-enforced OUTs, but Nicks et al are too conservative/unimaginative to consider what you've examined/explained in detail.

I just don't know about Milera, yet. I'd like to see Hinge brought back; he looked like a player and seemed to have a really good understanding of working/interchanging with Dawson vs PA.
Whatever happens, Dawson must be returned to the wing with occasional time at HB, which might mean just dropping back to help out the defence. He's got the legs for it and is probably our best kick, with Walker second.

I hope we have some balls and drop ROB.

Strachan isn't quick but our midfield would look much quicker without RoB in there.

Strachan can also pump a 50/60 metre kick quickly off his boot whereas RoB maxes out at 30 metres or gets stripped of the ball before it hits his boot.

Curious that in 7 rounds, Adelaide and Carlton have played 4 common teams, with fairly similar results:

AdelaideCarlton
Freo (3rd)-1-35
Port (13th)+4+3
Bulldogs (10th)+1+12
Richmond (9th)+19+25

Crows have also played CWD (8th, -42), Essendon (16th, -4) and GWS (15th, -59)

Carlton have also played Haw (11th, +1), Gold Coast (14th, -30) and North (17th, +50)

Freo is the only top 8 side Carlton have played. I know we put bugger all pressure on, but the GWS side that turned up on Saturday was not the same one that lost to StK and Freo (and yes, I watched both those games, one live).

Apparently their defensive stocks are a bit stretched at the moment.

I sniff an upset in a high scoring game.

If you remember he was linked to us at one point late in his draft year as a player we'd followed closely..

Injured I'd say, fronted up for his first VFL game of 2022 on the weekend against the VFL's easybeats the Northern Bullants 19 disposals 6 kicks 13 handballs 1 goal
Wrong thread, I meant Jacob Milbank

Hopefully we see this Himmelberg this week! 20220504_201633.gif

Hopefully we see this Milera this week! mil2.gif

I'd be comfortable with four changes this week, 2 forced, 2 dropped.

Smith for milera
McHenry for Rowe/ Newchurch
Crouch for Schoenberg

I want to see Sholl against Carlton given his form previously, but otherwise he would be dropped.

Gee I wish they would give Newchurch a game but I feel if there was a debutant we would've known by now. He is quick, can take an overhead mark and great when the ball hits the ground and has GOAL SENSE! Would rather that than murphy or even rowe. Rowe played basically as an onballer in the SANFL and did well cause he is above that level. Not sure how that translates to him coming in to the AFL side tbh. Wasn't the point of having an SANFL side that we can play players where we want?

Think we see newchurch play some games late this year.

Just on this. Heard Bickley say that this is a ridiculous proposition in today’s game. Can’t play two full-time ruckman.

Thoughts folks?
Other teams have done it & continue to do it? It's true you probably would want at least one of the rucks to have some nous as a forward too so you've got that angle. I think saying it can't be done is just lazy, yes in our case it would mean rejigging a fair few things eg up forward & through the middle. Can it be done? Sure it can, will it work? No way to know unless we actually tried it.
