I just realised that was a don't argue on Clayton Oliver too. Makes that play about 40% more awesome!Hopefully we see this Milera this week! View attachment 1391895
Isn't the last training before the Sunday game today usually? You would think the selection committee would deliberate after the final training.Gee I wish they would give Newchurch a game but I feel if there was a debutant we would've known by now. He is quick, can take an overhead mark and great when the ball hits the ground and has GOAL SENSE! Would rather that than murphy or even rowe. Rowe played basically as an onballer in the SANFL and did well cause he is above that level. Not sure how that translates to him coming in to the AFL side tbh. Wasn't the point of having an SANFL side that we can play players where we want?
100% agree. It won't work if the players involved only play Ruck or Bench. There must be large portions of the game where both are playing on the field to rest the runners.Other teams have done it & continue to do it? It's true you probably would want at least one of the rucks to have some nous as a forward too so you've got that angle. I think saying it can't be done is just lazy, yes in our case it would mean rejigging a fair few things eg up forward & through the middle. Can it be done? Sure it can, will it work? No way to know unless we actually tried it.
How many years did Clarkson rest Hale forward who come into the Ruck for a bit? I seem to recall him playing the combo of those roles extremely well, including in some finals.100% agree. But that's a massively long stretch from saying it can't work. Especially given it has and does work for the best team in the AFL, as well as several others.
Selection tends to be done a bit earlier than that. Yesterdays training you could see who was in the A team (blue guernseys) and who was in the B team (yellow guenseys). Other than the odd late change (where a player doesn't quite get up for the game), most are done reasonably early in the week.Isn't the last training before the Sunday game today usually? Not sure anything is in stone yet

Interesting! Can the stand in coach streak continue?Matthew Nicks out with Covid, Scott Burns to coach
Both aren't really the answer but I agree Strachan is the better choice. The only thing saving ROB is his elevation to the leadership group and his contract.Strachan is so much better than O'Brien. I can't see how this is not obvious to all.
Hopefully Burns picks the team. We may see some debutants if he does.Matthew Nicks out with Covid, Scott Burns to coach

I live in hope that he's the one person on the selection committee pushing for more youth. What makes you think that?
Burns is a 'back the boys in' type.

We should make ROB and Crouch isolate for a few weeks too, just to be safe.Matthew Nicks out with Covid, Scott Burns to coach
west coast isn’t winning this week despite knights at the helm.No stand in coach has lost this year.

Plus the focus on experienceThat's misplaced hope.
He's turned me off a few times with some of his pressers, he's the opposite of who you're hoping him to be.

It would be funny to watch ROB and Strachan both flying for the same ball inside 50, with no one standing a kick behind play. Tex would also still take the inside 50 ruck contests while they stand 10m away.He may only be talking in the context of us. We’re effectively already playing that second ruck/forward in Berg. But he doesn’t ruck well or many minutes because ROB thrives on continuity and huge workload. Playing Strachan and ROB would be a disaster.
In the one game where Jacobs and O'Brien were both in the side late in 2019 (The one with the on-air Ricciuto meltdown that seems to be largely forgotten) it didn't work at all. A lot of the focus was on Jacobs being cooked, but for me it was the game O'Brien permanently etched "For a ruckman" at the end of every "He is good at XYZ." sentence you would use to describe him.Other teams have done it & continue to do it?
