HF McHenry Walker Rachele
F McAdam Thilthorpe Rowe
FOLL: Strachan Schoenberg Berry
INTER: Pedlar, Hately, Fogarty, Jones

Yes these are all issues. We should be dropping half the side, but because so many players are bad, we'll do the complete opposite. "Everyone was bad so we can't decide who goes out; everyone gets a second chance"
Out: O'Brien, Himmelberg, Frampton, Murphy, Sholl, Brown
In: Strachan, Thilthorpe*, Worrell, McHenry, Smith, Parnell

*McAsey can come in if Thilthorpe isn't fit, Himmelberg must not play

Start Hinge in defence and Dawson on the wing, don't waste half the game figuring that out

The midfield was garbage but I'd like to see all of Hately, Schoenberg and Berry go around again before making changes, and I'd like to see Soligo back up his game and Pedlar find some touch
Finally moved Dawson up onto the wing and voila looked at his best

Can’t believe it took last few games and his form was starting to suffer

I’d only play him in backline at end of a quarter as a tempo thing or a momentum thing if opposition has a run on and even then only briefly

Let’s hope with smith and hinge playing he stays across the centre

The big concern for me is CHB. I want to drop Frampton but Murray was not good in the sanfl and Borlase is not up to it, Worrell is undersized and McAsey is not AFL quality. As soon as Thilthorpe is fit I would try him in Framptons spot. The only other option I can think of is to try Himmelberg down back for Frampton and Thilthorpe up forward pinch hitting in the ruck.

Looked like he played a fair bit off half back to me.

Are you mad? I agree we have a problem there but Thilthorpe isn't the answer. I think Borlase is a good butts backup but the two of them in one side is too slow. We more or less have to keep rotating murray & frampton there. Only other option is play doedee there (which I hate) and put a 3rd defender in which is easier to cover with Frampton/ McAsey / Worrell etc. Throw the magnets around and see what happens. Could be an easier week for us this week to play a KPD down

My other option was to try Himmelberg down back instead of Frampton and Thilthorpe up forward. Don't know if Himmelberg can play defence or not but might be time to find out. I agree they could play Doedee at CHB instead of Frampton but he is undersized. If they did that they could then play Worrell in Doedee's spot.

So many of you too harsh on Billy. He’s had a good month up until yesterday — in a game where we gave our defenders record oppo inside 50s to contend with. He’s far better than anything Fish and Murray can offer. If anything, it’s just another reminder of how bad this list is. 10 years on the footy wilderness coming up. I hope you’re all ready for it.

Brisbane took 15 years to rebuild. Melbourne took 20 years.

Carlton took 25 years. Richmond took 40 years.

Not sure what people are expecting.

He has had one good game in defence.

Oh come on…if you start expecting 20+ year rebuilds, you’re not making the club accountable. Rebuilds should not/don’t have to take that long. Ours might though.

hell he was feet from kicking 2 goals wasn't far off things puts in is a kid and a star in the making a rest maybe but not dropped Silvani obviously a better ruckman than O Brien Himmelberg and Hately a couple times at least has the ball on the ground and were unable to handball or grab it looked like they were wobbly turtles looking for their willy it was so embarrasing the rules of the game are a mess the i don;t like afl much anyomore after 50 years of passion just a stupid corrupt organization with the worst sport commentators on the planet x 1000000

Time for us to change it up a bit. So;

ROB out - Strachan in
Doedee to the midfield - Frampton to Doedee's role, Murray in as KPD
Rowe in (he's too good for SANFL and was playing pretty well before hand). Murphy out (neck)
Smith in Sholl out
McHenry in Schoenberg out (needs to actually find form and not sook it up at SANFL level before returning)
Gollant out - needs a spell
Hately out. Did nothing wrong really. Tried hard, but is just an average to good SANFL player. Too slow to play alongside Berry and Berry is better.

My Team this week:

Brown Butts Frampton
Jones Murray Laird
Dawson Keays Smith
McAdam Himmelberg McHenry
Rachele Walker Cook

1R: Strachan Doedee Rachele

Hamill Berry Rowe Hinge

Sub: Sholl

Berry/Keays/Doeedee rotation (midfield and bench)
Rachele/McHenry/Rowe rotation (midfield/forward/bench)
Hamill/Dawson/Smith wing rotation
Hinge defensive rotation

He was bad last week. Insipid yesterday.

Letting the club off the hook here. Our drafting has been deplorable and you’re saying we should expect it?

Even if everything goes right and you draft perfectly you're doing a pretty good job to rebuild and win a flag in under 10 years

You can’t be serious? 38 inside 50’s in the first half last week, where most of the damage was done, and then 74 this week? Against 2 KPF’s in the top 10 of the Coleman?

Frampton WAS terrible, he went to both Curnow and McKay and was leaking goals, but at least he was affecting the game in other ways. He had a team high 7 spoils but lost 4/6 contested 1/1’s. We KNOW that’s his weakness at the moment, again, where’s the defensive help? 3rd highest M gained in the team.

Where is his help? The ball is in there so frequently, and with quality being delivered by the likes of Cerra and Kennedy (17 I50’s between them) what hope do the defenders have?

Forget the leaking goals issue, start with the root of the problem. ROB had 38 hit-outs, with only 10 to advantage.

Rob can’t seem to tap to advantage, and we have a midfield that can’t seem to get their own ball, or apply enough pressure around the contest. The amount of free Blues players around the ball just speaks to a lack of manic pressure, and awareness.

The other question to ask of our Defensive group however, is that how the hell did Brown, Frampton, Butts, Sholl and Hamill all record ZERO tackles when it was down there 74 times during the game? How is that even possible?

It's sadly the nature of AFL. You can't turn your list over and get good players in quick enough.

Everyone has a first round pick. The difference un the impact of a pick 5 and pick 15 is minor, when your compare it to the actually difference in the teams.

Im not saying we’ll win a flag in 10 years. I’m saying we’ll be crap for 10 — at least. When we contend again is anyone’s guess.

ROB out for Strachan
Gollant out for Fogarty
Murphy out for Rowe
Sholl out for Smith
Hately/Schoenberg out for McHenry

Personally, I'd even look to rush Thilthorpe in, but that maybe waits a week.

That's how long they took to have a successful rebuild not one continuous rebuild. Melbourne and Richmond had multiple failed rebuilds until they finally got it right...jury is still out on Carlton and Brisbane have been regular contenders and are closing in on success. I still believe 5-10 years is the time period for a successful rebuild from trough (i.e. bottoming out and finishing bottom 4 for >1 year) to peak (winning a flag).

That's exactly what has happened for the vast majority of teams who have decided to do a rebuild. Exactly what's happened.

Even clubs given a massive leg-up to do a list build took much longer.

Not sure how you do a list rebuild in less than a decade.

So, who's done a rebuild in five to ten years?

As in - not a bad year because of injuries that got them a good pick, but a list makeover where they replaced the majority of their list with young players?

I think staying successful like the Swans could be a lot simpler than becoming successful.

Freo have done it in seven years. That's with a fair bit of attrition in losing Neale and Cerra as well as Fyfe to injury.

They've traded and drafted very well in the last 3-4 years, and have 50+ games into the likes of Darcy, Brayshaw, Cox and Schulz.

Our issue remains the lack of progress by our first round picks.
