Nicks' comments have set it up so he has to come back through the SANFL.
Anything to keep the golden boys in the side.
Nah don’t reckon

Pedlar actually just played his best game in a month and they would have rested him sooner if it wasn’t a showdown

Nicks has shown massive faith in Pedlar all year

It's weird that playing a game largely equivalent to Ben Keays gets Pedlar 'managed', but not the senior player.

Not really as Pedlar has been running on fumes the past month whereas Keays hasn't.

However, I do agree with suggestion that players should be managed regardless of age. Sloane should have been managed more than the younger players as he has been found wanting in many games.

My point is more that if the performance that evidences a young player with no tickets left is roughly equivalent to the performance of a senior player, maybe we should try rotating those players out of the team every now and then for not being very good.

Sloane shouldn't be 'managed', because there's no need to invest in Sloane. If his current performance is not that of a good AFL player, the '-ed' he should be is not 'managed', it's 'dropped' and then 'delisted'.

Pedlar should have been dropped last week after multiple poor games. Rather than this week after regaining a bit of form and having an adequate game. (Adequate meaning he generally played poorly, but took opportunities to score goals when they presented themselves.)

What motivation would a marginal player have to improve their form after a bad game if they know the bad performance will be 'banked' and used to justify dropping them in 1,2,3,etc... weeks time.

I look at it as Nicks knowing the importance of a showdown and that Pedlar would have enough good moments it was worth the gamble which it was.

I doubt pedlar has taken this badly and has likely wanted the rest.

Not at all as young players who haven’t played full seasons or even half seasons before are bound to hit the wall

Pedlar has been that way for a while , the rest would have been better a few weeks ago even

It’s been amazing he’s played so many games and hasn’t broken down and is a brilliant base for the years to come, just what he needed after 3-4 years of massive interruptions including his draft year

Makes you think what a player Pedlar can become as it’s not easy to build form and fitness with so many interruptions

Will also be interesting to see how Rachele goes after 2 weeks off , should see a decent spike in his form as he was looking cooked too

One thing that keays can hang his hat on is fitness / durability after 6-7 pre seasons

That’s exactly what’s happening isn’t it ? Sloane has been squeezed out finally

Is this the Club giving Sloane a glimpse of what next year looks like ?

He's still going to play. He's not squeezed out like say, Berry.

Keays who was directly comparable to Pedlar (if anything worse) is unquestioned whilst Pedlar needs a rest.

But if his hitting the wall production is comparable to the senior players, why is it only a concern about him?

Rather than who else ? Sloane obviously , do you also mean a Murphy , Fogarty Keays etc ?

I reckon those 3 have outperformed him overall in last month or so

Also don’t underestimate data and burgess in all this . They can measure all sorts of physical output and compare with earlier in season but the raw start numbers also show a big difference

Doing him a disservice not to rest as he will likely come back stronger , he’s been backed in regardless of form all year because they love him

Have you watched Berry play this year ?

Thankfully Schoenberg is finally playing , he’s the main young player this year that’s been mismanaged but I hope they realise that finally

Berry had a clump of games early and did nothing.

Pedlar has been down for weeks and a rest would be good for him, Keays is fit as and don't need a rest.

He had what, three games? Sloane has had 20 games and done nothing.

One of the two might actually improve, and yet he's been banished for the while season.

Berry played the 1st games of the year did nothing, Come back in round 10 and did nothing. Gotta take ya chances in the big league and he couldn't this year. Hopefully he does better next year.
Sloane has played some good games this year, Good decision maker who rarely wastes his disposals. This year should be it though

You wouldn’t want to waste 20m kicks either

Sloane has done nothing.

What are you on about, rarely wastes his disposal? He's never been an effective disposer of the ball, and it's gotten worse. He's had one goal assist since week 12 for crying out loud.
