8-3 ain’t too bad.

If offered 8-3 before the season I don't think there's a Carlton fan alive that wouldn't snatch at it.

Even 7-4 would've been amazing.

But 8-3 and being a kick and/or a free kick away from 9-2?

Unthinkable before the year

Re Dow Bluemour: makes perfect sense for North.

Not sure who we'd take from their list so it might be better to ask for a draft pick and use it to chase a Lachlan Sholl type.

We're being linked with Amon too, so seems we're on the lookout for wingman and our window to go deep into finals seems to be opening up - strike while it's hot!

I reckon we will be disappointed in the pick we get offered for Dow but will flick it for a player who will add depth in another area of need. Like the Samo trade last year which ended up okay for us.

I would ask for Comben, even exchange picks slightly in their favour, but North would be mad to let him go

Inb4 some doofus head suggests straight swap for Ben McKay.

Player for player swaps are pretty rare these days so doubt it happens with North. Requires us to want the player, North to be happy to trade them, and the player to be willing to leave.

If North want Dow it's because they think they can get him cheaply. They won't be intending to give anyone they really value away for him. And given they are 17th I doubt we value anyone that they don't value.

Ideally, we'd like a second club to show interest. Makes it a seller's market. And given he's contracted, it would give us some leverage. Another thing to consider is that Norf currently do not have a 2nd or 3rd round pick. He is worth more than their 4th (say ~56), and if that's all they had to offer, we should walk away from it.

I think he already has his mind made up about where he wants to go - and it's for a heap of cash.

A touch over $700k base is what his team is using as a starting point with Port as they do their dance (his team knows have money to spend).

I'd be trying hard to grab North's 2nd for Dow. It's the best we could do and we should take it and run. He'd go well in their centre square setup. He was a North fan too IIRC so this is probably quite valid.

No player swaps. We have to cut our list to a certain size and we have just added 2 players in the MSD. There are reasons to keep virtually every player we have so there will be some painful delistings to come.

North don't have a second round pick - they traded it to Richmond for CCJ.

Damn. Then it will have to be a 3 way trade.

Let's not rule out a compo pick end of first round for them though.

We went into the season with a list spot spare,, so we only have to cut one spot, which won't be difficult

Plus the 3 national draft picks we have to take. 2 need to come off the senior list and 2 off the rookie list.

He's contracted and squeezed out of an elite midfield.
Doesn't matter. Any club who wants Dow will want him because they think they can get him cheap. Nobody will give up a pick that high for him. Late 2nd rounder absolute max but more likely a 3rd.

Doesn't mean we have to accept a offer though.

I think some clubs will see him as a walk up start in the centre of the ground, being held out by a beast of a midfield. If the rumours are around now, it's because they are seeking out a player with 18 months left on his contract, not because we are shopping him around. Time will tell. Hawks traded #19 for Jono O'Rourke.

Yeah it will. Don't get me wrong would be thrilled to get a pick that high for him. Would just be high surprised. Guess it also depends who wants him.
