I dont disagree his speed has gone a bit but without including the 2 games he has been injured in, he was averaging 3.6 shots on goal a game. That's a fair effort.
3.6 shots on goal, but he was our focal point for a large part of that period too. So the ball had to go his way.

Gunston and Breust won’t be phased out anytime soon. The lack of small/medium forwards on the list is a major concern.

I really hope MM has his sights set on aquiring some small/medium forwards during the trade/FA period. Last year Lachie Schultz and Sam Wicks were players of interest. I think there was another player as well? Which player(s) will it be this year?

Lewis and Koschitzke are two key forwards you can build around, but right now the forward-line lacks that “finishing touch”. We don’t have any match-winning small/medium forwards coming through.

I do see Butler and Moore as potential small to medium forwards ? Obviously we'd love to find a super pressure small forward also.

Dom, he's been average at best.

His crumbing hasn't gone to another level, and even before his ankle he was continually getting caught in positions where his opponents was on-top of him as soon as the ball got into his hands.
I don’t share the same thoughts but that’s alright was planning on going through all the games so far during the year and I’ll have a lookout for it to see how much I missed. Especially early days.

Please don’t man! You’re young, something useful with your time, I don’t think you’ll shift too many on this one, which is fine.

It's not about shifting things haha, i like to watch footy because it benefits my own footy irl can learn so much about watching closely on so many players too, the way they run, where they run, where they get their rest, how they setup to crumb, jump at the footy etc, heaps.

But yeah haha don't worry about it, i watch footy pretty often and we're told we should watch games (old or live ones) and focus on specific things + teams that run similar structures to ours. Tho that'll change when i move to my new club.

It's worth asking about darcy McPherson. Mitch crowden from freo could be a very cheap option.
Behind the scenes hopefully the club is being selective and targeted in identifying a few players from clubs that are getting limited game time, that would fill a role, are in the right age profile. If one or two come off ….. bingo! This would quicken things up.

Hopefully in the run home we see the likes of Downie, Long, Callow, Serong, and Morris get a few senior games to inspire them over the preseason.

Just having a look at the players out of contract this year, I’d look at these players without having to sell the farm for them.

Dan butler
Ben long
Zurharr
Toby Bedford
Bobby hill
Narkle

Butler, Moore and Brockers.... ??? All provide different things.

CMac is also playing across half forward and I believe Serong has shown some good signs as a third tall.

Our small/medium forward situation is one of our lesser concerns for mine. Inside and outside mids on the other hand...

Yes, but Moore has become more of a half-forward, and Butler is a forward/mid. C-Mac will be a mid/forward, and Serong could be absolutely anything. If Brocky leaves, then we need a small forward 100% as he's our only pure small forward outside of Breust. Even if Brocky doesn’t leave, I think we still need another. If we get Anthony Munkara, then I would consider him a small forward/medium as he plays like a small forward, but in a 190cm body.
Looking at our forward line after Gunston, Breust and Chad are gone, we have the following:
HF: Moore, Koschitzke (I believe he'll be our key forward), Butler (I believe he'll make it and C-Mac would be midfield.)
FF: Brockman (if he stays), Lewis, area of concern

We play the right brand under Mitchell, its just that we don't have the top line cattle yet. Draft right over the next 2-3 years and we should be OK.
Spot on about needing to nail the draft. Though it might be 4 or 5.
In that space we lose
Gunston
Shiels
Bruest
Wingard
Mitchell
Omeara
McEvoy
Sicily (possibly)

All bar probably Shiels are still in our top 10, the list demographic is horrible.

Clarkson has left a significant mess of the list. The worst example of many was taking Vickery for 29 which the Tigers used on Shai Bolton.🤢
If we get the picks right:
2022 - 14th
2023 - 11th
2024 - 8th
2025 - 12th
2026 - 6th
2027 - 3rd
2028 - Win

If we get em wrong:

2023 - 11th
2024 - 9th
2025 - 14th
2026 - 18th

Clarkson made plenty of mistakes but saying he left Sam with a significant mess is just an unnuanced, Kane Cornes nonsense take. Lewis, Moore, Day, Harry, Newcombe, Hardwick, Reeves etc. are all Clarkson list decisions post-dynasty that seem to be forming a major part of our next premiership core.

the club has moved on, it's time for everyone else to as well

Vickery was a FA. We never had that pick.

Clarkson was an excellent coach and people person, no doubt. I just wonder what first year Clarkson (the passionate and ruthless) would have told the 2017 Clarkson. This will be our 7th straight season since we last won any final.

1. Sicily
2. Newcombe
3. Lewis
4. Mitchell
5. Jiath
6. Scrimshaw
7. Moore
8. Wingard
9. JOM
10. Hardwick

Is my top 10 at the moment. Breust, BigBoy, Shiels, and Gunston while handy and still best 22 are no longer top 10 at the moment. If Gunston magically regains his touch, speed, agility and kicking boots he might shoot back up.

The Yabby sees it pretty similarly.

Round 12 Leaderboard
33 - James Sicily
30 - Jai Newcombe
17 - Mitchell Lewis
14 - Tom Mitchell
13 - Jack Scrimshaw
12 - Changkuoth Jiath, Dylan Moore
8 - Jaeger O'Meara
7 - Blake Hardwick, Harry Morrison, Jack Gunston
5 - Ned Reeves
3 - Jarman Impey, Max Lynch
2 - Luke Breust, Finn Maginness, James Worpel
1 - Conor Nash, Will Day, Sam Frost
