List Mgmt. Hawk's List Management for 2025

Usually do one of these before the trade period but was caught-up with other stuff this year so here is my post-trade period update! This is what I have at the moment. As you can see, firstly the list is STACKED in terms of talent (which we already knew) but is also pretty close to being completely full as it is. If what I have is correct, then we have 36 primary list, 4 Cat A and 1 Cat B locked in for next year which leaves us with limited options in terms of drafting next month and SSP/MSD in 2025.

If I had to guess, I'd say we are likely to delist-then-rookie one or both of Gunston and/or Breust for flexibility. Regardless, we can only intake a max of 2 players to primary/Cat A list at the moment plus the option of another Cat B player if we want (which I suspect we will re-sign Bennetts with).

As usual, if you spot any mistakes then please let me know :)

Generally u get ure depth leaving as u say. Lewis plays when he is fit and the same can be said for CJ
CJ isn’t currently depth. But for mine he’s getting a lot closer to being depth compared to locked into the best 22 like he has been.

I know he’s had injury troubles but he hasn’t improved much (if it all) since 2021-22. He has elite speed and endurance but the other parts of his game haven’t developed.

Given the improvement from Finn, Hmo, and Ward he could find himself on the outer if he keeps stagnating and the others keep improving

CJs big issue is that last year he regressed (I think that is fair when comparing his output to his early years) whilst other players such as Finn and Harry improved.

As you say in the AFL if you don't improve you get left behind pretty quick (look at how quickly DGB got overtaken). It's a brutal industry in that regard.

It's a massive year for CJ, he really needs to stay healthy this or season to give him the best shot at becoming best 22 again. He has the physical tools but he needs to find confidence in his body and game again.

Yeah injury interrupted pre season puts u behind the 8 ball. We as hawthorn supporters know this as we saw it before with Day. He had a substandard year when he wasn't fit and didnt do a proper pre season. I will give Cj a bit of leeway as he never had a good run at it last year and he was playing in a new position. He is flying this year in pre season. Looking fit there are no excuses for a poor year for him.

However I don't see a bad year by CJ this year. I think he is setting himself up for a big year

He’s definitely had challenges keeping fit which has made it hard for him.

It’s definitely promising he’s been tearing up the track this pre-season.

Everyone here wants him to succeed. Now it’s up to him to show how good he can be.

That’s the point we want him to succeed but recognise it’s harder now which is great for where we are at as a list. Going to be fascinating to see who comes on this year imagine if even a few come from the clouds…

I think we agree. He was fit for the semi. He was listed as an emergency, which debunks the argument that he plays whenever he’s fit.
Can you please stop not posting cr@p? 😉

This argument is way too sensible.

Ward, Maginness and CJ were given the chance at BH to put their hand up - mind you Maginness was already in the AFL team the week beforehand.

Of the 3, CJ was the one who didn’t get picked in our AFL 23 the next week (only making the emergency list)

That’s the facts.

It’s up to CJ to keep up with the progress of his team mates or risk missing out unless there are other injuries.
